Thank you for thinking of me, my pain is better, but I still don't feel the best. I have one week left before I have to function...

Thanks doll. It is slow and steady but I feel absolutely great!! I am exercising. Not hungry. Don't miss the junk food. I really thought I'd miss the diet Dr. Pepper but I don't. Whenever I see someone drinking one I laugh to myself remembering how addicted to them I was. I refuse to drink any carbonated drinks that could stretch my pouch. I am glad to see your surgery went well and you are complication free!!
  5. Made a quick update under 'Blog' for those who are interested. More to come in the next few days.

Doing well. Getting my liquids in, vitamins, but not proteins yet. 2 more days till I can use my shakes again, then I'll be good to go.

I am so sorry for the late response. By now you are recovering as well. My surgery went well and no complications thank God! I just had excess stomach cramping, but its because I was very swollen. I rarely get them now. Something weird is I get hic-ups overtime I'm full. Im approaching 2 weeks on 18th and excited to start pureed food in a couple of days.

I really do hope your experience was a good one. I know it gets pretty nerve racking right at last minute, but I know our lives will be better moving on and it will be very worth it.

Yes the bloating can be uncomfortable! Glad you are on your way! Safe travels back home! Oh and when they pull the drain out it's kinda freaky feeling!

So glad everything went well!! Don't weight yourself yet with all that gas lol. Keep walking and it will hopefully go away soon. Thanks for the update. Keep us posted!
  9. My surgery went well. I'm still having a lot of gas bloating, but passed my leak test today. They will be pulling out my drain in the morning before I take the shuttle to the San Diego airport. My friends airport going to kidnap me for a couple hours to hang out at their house in San Diego before I fly back in the afternoon.

I had lost a total of 18 lbs before my surgery and am excited to see what I weigh after week 1 post op. I'm soo bloated I think I'll make myself weigh in at 1 week instead of when I get home.

Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
"Goal Weight" is misleading... I mean, if I go by my BMI I should weigh 130-140 pounds! Currently 297 lbs. and aiming for wherever my body seems happy UNDER 180 lbs. I've spent the last 8 years dealing with massive back issues and now this past year and a half a knee issue as well. Physical issues have made it impossible to enjoy being active anymore, and caused pretty massive depression the past few years. I need help, a jump start if you will. And one that will buy me time to learn my way around my food addiction and emotional eating issues. I'm Really excited to finally be getting this tool to help me, and plan to work the crap out of it so it will work for me!

I've been overweight since I had my oldest (who is now 20 [2016]) and obese for the last 15 years. I went through high school at my comfortable weight of 134 lbs. I don't really need to be that weight again, but I WOULD like to be able to go hiking, camping, kayaking, and fishing again. And I WOULD really like to not have to consider if the chairs at such and such restaurant/cafe I'm invited to will be too small (Starbucks OMG they kill me).

I look forward to NOT having to consider every aspect of my life through the lens of obesity. And I can't wait to be able to wear BOOTS again!!!!

6 days post op

by TarotAces on 01-16-2017 at 01:36 PM
I KNOW that I will be missing lots of things people would probably like to know but I didn't intend on actually making a blog post, just a quick update. So, hopefully this quick update will be enough until I can order my thoughts and feelings enough to actually write about the experience itself; which is guaranteed to be a LONG post.

I've been getting my fluids in (64 oz give or take, since about the 4th day post op) without too much difficulty; there is a bit of discomfort when the

3 more days....

by TarotAces on 01-08-2017 at 12:46 PM
Took my pre-op laxative this morning when I got up, and am officially on my 3 days of clear liquids stage.

Decided it was past time to take my 'before' pictures last night. I cried. Just SEEING myself from the back... I ... don't have words for it really. I was dismayed, to say the least, at the way I look. I could even go so far as to say I was disgusted with myself, momentarily.

You see, I had given up on caring about being healthy or trying to lose weight about

5 more days.... possible TMI

by TarotAces on 01-06-2017 at 01:41 PM
5 days out from surgery, 4 days from leaving for Mexico; alone.

I've been seeing people post about the Couch to 5k program (C25k) a bit lately and it's gotten me thinking about how NOT possible that is right now. I wish my back and knee would let me do the C25k program!!! I think once I've lost a good amount of weight those types of activities will become possible again. Sure, I may still need to wrap my knee, use a ton of IcyHot and pump myself full of Tylenol... but it'll be POSSIBLE!

11 days of pre-op done...

by TarotAces on 01-05-2017 at 12:50 PM
6 days till my surgery... WOW! I admit I'm a bit nervous about the trip, and about this HUGE change to the rest of my life. But, I think I'm ready and open to it all. Trying to keep a good attitude and hold on to all my motivations for losing.

BTW... I've shed 17 pounds in the last 11 days of pre-op diet. GO ME!!!

Between my 'About Me' section and now...

by TarotAces on 01-04-2017 at 01:32 PM
This was written as a reply to someone in the January 2017 Sleevers post (BelleKreyol) and ended up being a pretty long reply post that I decided should be edited a bit and posted as a blog post. I think it'll be useful for me to be able to go back and read this later, and also may be interesting to other people down the road... who knows.

Belle had said she'd be interested in hearing about others' journeys and I kinda rolled with it:

As far as my journey goes
