Looked up your physician information and see that you had your surgery at MGH. That's where I am planning to go.

    Hi there!
Home from the hospital now follow my op on 13th Sept. Still a bit tender in places, but otherwise OK. Have been pottering around in the garden whilst I'm home and think I might overdo the bending over a bit as I'm quite sore afterwards....but hey, anything to keep those nasty little post-op white stockings off!!!
    How are you doing now???
  4. I had a binder to start due to the hernia repair....I really needed that for over 3 weeks......been back at work for 2 weeks now....even went in yesterday and heading in there now for a bit ( life of a teacher and the fact we had no power for most of last week.) I am tired at times....but mostly used to lack of sleep due to my daughter.....guess I need to get on her schedule...she is up every day at 5 ( mind you 25 and autisitc....never a dull moment) I do try to take a walk with her everynight.....but with her it's more like a stroll ! Keep the protein and H20 going......everyday does get better. I'm skipping my psy. appointment on Wed. ( don't like her) and just can't miss school. Not sure I will make all the post op nutrition classes either.......such a long ride. Thank ful for the on-line support groups and finding a balance in all that I read. Keep staying positive !! stay in touch

Better thank you Got myself some powerful antioxidants to build up and heal. Also got a belly binder which is helping a lot at night. I still get tired easily, I wonder how long that lasted for you?
Off to my MIL's today with hubby to take care of things there.... had a picnic yesterday at my daughter's house, fun but so tiring..sigh.

Thanks for your support! I'll remember on the pain meds. Seems they are more trouble than they are worth sometimes....

What do you get to eat? I've been on a clear liquids diet since surgery and Thursday I got to add protein shakes (no fruit). Next Wednesday I can add skim milk, low fat yogurt etc. I'm jealous you can eat yogurt already. I really don't like the Isopure drinks or the cytomax. I prefer a chocolate protein shake- I wish I did- they have so much protein! I found some miso soup mix at World Market and it's a nice change from broth. I just started feeling my incisions more- the bruising- and weird sore spots lately- how are you doing?????

thanks so much for sending me the message. I did not get to have surgery because of a kidney complication. I am working on fixing that and if the nephrologist approves then my surgery will be Aug 16. I appreciate your thinking of me more than you can imagine! patti eceteacher

I hope you are doing well

Hey! Glad to hear you're doing good! I'm doing pretty good too. Just a little sore in spots and getting so tired of this liquid diet with the diarrhea that follows- not nice. I've been managing to get in lots of liquids and protein with my isopure drinks and stuff- I made bowls and bowls of sf jello and eat sugar free pops but I need some texture! Like I've heard on here though I'm really not interested in eating or drinking at all until my stomach just starts hurting from being so empty. My mom came over and made me take a little walk to my downtown and we shopped and were on our feet for a long time- but I'm fine! I slept a long time last night.

Hey! Wow, and I thought I had too much going on! LOL! I also have lots of things going on at once, and lots of loose ends to get together TODAY! But the world will not fall apart! It's not suprised that so many of us overweight ladies are neglecting ourselves- there's too much to do and too many people to take care of- and no one realizes it! I have fibromyalgia and it's made my memory and ability to multitask just fall apart- and it's one of the main reasons I've gained so much weight since diagnosed- it's so hard to keep it all together sometimes I don't even try! My husband is a sweet man and he does a lot with my kids- but the rest is just not a thought in his mind. I say he's domestically disabled! I teach special ed to 3rd and 6th graders this year- just got my schedule and they've moved us resource teachers all around. I wish I had time to go to work, I really do love decorating my room and planning for the year. It makes the beginning more hopeful before it all goes crazy! I'm drinking lemon herbal tea. Good luck with getting it all together. Don't get stressed out, it's time for you to take back your life for yourself and take care of yourself!

So, we're getting close! I have been scrambling trying to get things done- went to my classroom and couldn't get enough done but have too much to do at home to go back tomorrow. Tomorrow is our clear liquids day! I don't have to do a laxative thing thank goodness. I won't get my surgery time until tomorrow but I'll have to be there early I'm sure. For the first time today my stomach just flipped when I'd get hit with the realization the surgery is so close- when I shopped and only got mushy foods and clear liquids for me-and when I was talking to my son about something it just hit me- and I was like WHoa- this is really happening. I'm usually so strong- or maybe pretending to be- but I think I haven't fully accepted that this will fix my weight problem- like I've been going through the motions but not expecting much- like a 13,000 dollar diet! I'm so used to being disappointed that it's hard for me to imagine we could be 100 pounds less in 6 months (give or take). CRAZY!!!!! Good luck and keep me posted. It'll be fun to compare notes!

Hey! So, are you ready for Thursday? I'm excited but worried- not about the surgery really but about afterwards- just how it's all going to work- I haven't lost hardly any weight on the pre-op diet- I have been eating a little "bad" foods once in a while but generally I do what I'm supposed to- I know it's virtually impossible- but I worry that after the surgery I won't lose any weight! I guess I'm used to being disappointed in that area! It's fun to look at before and after pictures- that inspires me. Good luck!
