  1. How long before your stitches on the inside of the incisions take to dissolve? It has been 3 weeks and I can still feel knots under my skin.
  2. Hi, I am being sleeved by Dr. Rodriguez on 6/30/14. I can't wait to feel healthy and active again. You look great. I will be going to Juarez, MX at Hospital Angeles and have been reading a lot about the sleeve surgery and the procedure itself. Does Dr. Rodriguez use anything to determine the size to make your new stomach and does he do a leak test before you leave the hospital?

I appreciate what you said about the positivity. It was all very helpful. I get sleeved tomorrow, and had a bit of nervousness about it. Reading your post helped me get into a more positive mindset. Thank you.
  4. Hi there, Wanted to let you know that your settings don't allow people to comment on your blog posts... maybe you have it set to just friends. I think you can change that in control panel if you wanted to

Hi there, I read your post on running too but couldn't comment there. I did the c25K program and did my first 5k in April. It is a great training program. You can download the app to your phone. I highly recommend it. I wasn't a runner before but I am now. I love running. Have fun!

Hi, I read your post on running, but there wasn't a comment section. I started the couch to 5k program at about 9 weeks post op and did a 5k in March. I have done four others since then with a combo of walking and running. It's harder running on pavement than a treadmill.

The races are really fun with lots of great energy and encouragement. I would encourage you to just sign up for one next month and try walking it. I think you will really enjoy it!

Hey, read your post on running. I am a new runner, I started 4 weeks ago when I was 4 weeks out. Light run, no killing myself. I am doing a 5k in 2 weeks and am up to 2.6 miles. I run 3 days a week and go to tabatta classes 2-3 days a week. I will do push ups, sit ups and dips when I run or on off days. Something every day at least. I went to a black belt group test and they all had to run 3 miles. I pace myself, looking for consistent rather than speed at this point. I started with walk/run (walk 2 min, run 1 min type thing). again I am a new runner so you can probably tell me a few things. good luck. Liz

Hello. Doing pretty well. Just tried to eat some soup from the Chinese store but did not even eat a 1/4 cup. I did eat a little piece of cheese. I wonder if I Will ever get an appetite or be able to eat again. Tomorrow I start Stage 3 which is puree or texture of applesauce. Right now I am like whatever!!!! Thanks for asking.

U are doing very well; pretty impressive...i am dealing with a stall myself and it is driving me crazy...But I stay encouraged so I know God will see me through!
  10. Thank you all so much for your positive and inspiring comments!!! Every single time I come here, everyone with whom I interact has been so nice and positive and I am so happy to have such a great support group
  11. Remember if you are thinking you are in a stall and not losing it is probably because you are shrinking in size..Measure your proportions..You probably lose an inch off the waist or legs and build muscle..Don't get discouraged I still have about a hundred to go..and not in a big rush..Doing all the right things..We all have different issues and think it will be overnight..It will take time..Pat yourself on the back..you earned it.
  12. OMG girl you have done amazing..I have had the sleeve almost a year..(age 66) not a lot of energy, some injuries to knees and hips..but walking and only lost 55 pounds post op so far..Lost 55 pre op but took me a year..I just have a slow metabolism..Don't get discouraged, you are doing so great..I am proud you get to do the awesome workouts and looks like you are succeeding.Don't worry it will come off..Be careful of hair loss due to extreme depravation..My doc gave me prevacid ( omaprazole) so if you have trouble with foods ask her about it..I take one every day..Have never had nausea or dumping..I can eat just about anything now..I think you are only out a month or so and you will take back some more solid foods as you go..Just take it slow and introduce the foods..when you get to salads you won't eat much as it fills you up..If you eat some veggie protein burgers you can add salsa to the top to doctor the flavor if you aren't into them..Little steps and mess with flavoring..Extracts to your greek yogurts and shakes..( I like maple, coconut, and almond) You already are beautiful and I know your husband must be so proud of your achievements..Have a great summer..

Turn your comments on! It seems like you have a good support system. Sometimes we don't know who our friends are until we need them!

Hello. I read your blog but could not figure out how to comment. I wonder if those people who seem to have disappeared just don't know what to say or do so they rain silent? Some may look at it as cosmetic or elective surgery and don't see it as a health issue as it is for many of us who decide to do it. I find that I often distance myself from people because I feel like people will judge me for decisions I make and if they do not agree with my decisions.
  15. I wanted to comment on you post, how many of us have them....? but there was no where to post, maybe something with the site. Only a few people know I am have surgery some positive and some neggy. I don't care one way or the other because not one of them is carrying one pound for me. Welll. I don't need anyone permission but my LORD's to have this surgery and I got confirmation 9 months ago. I have surgery on the 23rd of April. Any suggestions?

by pdotmullen on 10-02-2014 at 11:29 PM
Haven't been here in a while. I'm just here to update the good folks that encouraged me, and want to pay it forward and give some encouragement. The pic I uploaded is a before and after on my weightloss journey. The before pic on the left is me at my highest, 315 lbs. The pic on the right is me now, at 213 lbs I wear wigs, so I look different in each pic but the after pics are all current Look at the difference...look at how happy I look now. I'm so glad I got the sleeve done. I wouldn't

Updates almost 5 mos out...(Pics Included)

by pdotmullen on 07-31-2014 at 08:37 PM
I'm sorry for not updating as often as I'd like. Life goes on after surgery and I'm settled into my new life, I must say My blood pressure has gone down, and I no longer need meds. I have to get my blood work done on the 5th, and I'm going to see how my poor kidneys are doing. Before the surgery I was at Stage 3 kidney failure. Hopefully I'm not progressing. I included a pic I took earlier today for my husband Bless his heart. I'm going to remind folks of my God awful before pic as well,

An Update, Real Quick...(PIC INCLUDED)

by pdotmullen on 06-29-2014 at 09:21 PM
I haven't been here in wild long. I have been super busy and I keep forgetting to come here to give updates. I feel fine for the most part although there are still foods that make me sick and it's been almost 4 months. I still feel as if I had surgery yesterday as far as restriction goes, so I still can't eat much before I get too full. I can take down half a bottle of water before I'm too full, and as far as food, I pretty much only eat the same limited amount of foods, because I'm not willing

Positivity!!!!

by pdotmullen on 05-16-2014 at 11:53 PM
I just posted not too long ago, but I'm back because I just want to spread some positivity to those that need some right now. I was on a different WLS forum, and good Lord, those people were RUTHLESS to each other. Mean comments, bullying people who asked a question, snappy answers, etc. I can't say I've ever come across that here. Just reading some of those comments made me want to break out my candles and incense and purge the negativity, that's how bad it was. There's just no reason for

Ummm....????

by pdotmullen on 05-16-2014 at 10:12 PM
Where the hell did my period go? Hey look, before you make that face...we're all adults, ok? Women have periods, we know this. So I should be able to talk about this with no shame, or throwing in the "Sorry, TMI" disclaimer. That being said, my period has disappeared. I guess that is another outcome of having WLS that people hardly talk about. I haven't had a period since getting sleeved 10 weeks ago.

I took a blood test
