Wow @ your before and afters! great job!
  5. Everything has been great so far. The surgery went smoothly and I'm enjoying not being starving in spite of the fact I haven't eaten much lately.

I have not seemed to have as many problems as I was expecting - for example, I have been in less pain then my husband had with hernia surgeon.

I'm happy so far and hope that trajectory continues.

First Amazing pic

by mrsjoe on 06-29-2014 at 11:55 PM
So I've reached goal weight pretty quickly, but I often still feel blobby due to the loose skin and such. I had a girls weekend last weekend, and one thing we did was walk around our old university. My friend took this pic and it's the very first one where I saw myself and thought, "dang Girl! You're looking good!" about myself, so I thought I'd share.

Granted, I'm standing in a ridiculously flattering pose (which I must master and replicate), but the loose skin and thinning

Quick Update

by mrsjoe on 05-06-2014 at 07:06 PM
I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I would get on and mention how well things have been going.

I'm nine weeks out today and down 40 pounds! The best part about that is that since I was a low BMIer (starting point about 32.5), being down 40 pounds means I have less than 5 pounds to go now before my BMI will be below 25. Granted it will only be .04 in the normal range, but I definitely will take this. My goal weight aims to be a BMI around 23 or lower, so I've still got a

Things still going well

by mrsjoe on 03-28-2014 at 05:37 PM
Well, my relatively easy recovery has continued. I was able to get out on my cruiser bike and bike ride with the family before I had even hit two weeks. I've been active pretty much the whole time and have yet to overdo it.

I kept waiting for the really bad gas pains to come, and they still haven't yet even though it's almost four weeks. Not that there hasn't been gas, it's just never been enough to be uncomfortable. Here's hoping I missed that.

My biggest issue

Fat Tuesday

by mrsjoe on 03-06-2014 at 07:23 PM
I can't believe I didn't realize until today that by being sleeved on 03/04/2014, I was sleeved on the same day as Mardi Gras, which is FAT TUESDAY.

How appropriate eh?

Recovery is still going okay. I'm taking pain meds every 6-8 just to try to keep ahead of it, and can't decide if the compression garment is better or worse, but I'm able to drink water and move around, so all in all everything is still good.

Feeling truly blessed

by mrsjoe on 03-05-2014 at 02:06 AM
It's official. I'm sleeved! I was a nervous wreck this morning. I was however brightened though when the hospital scale showed I had lost 10 lbs in one week on the liquid diet! For someone like me who started at 195, that's a bunch of weight! I'm guessing my post surgery weight will come off at a slower more reasonable pace, but it gave me faith that clearly a reduction in consumption due to the sleeve was the way to go for me!!

I was pretty uncomfortable right after surgery, but
