Biography:

I have been overweight since I was about 6 years old. I held my weight down to around 175 until I had my first child, then after his birth, I ballooned to about 225. I went through a divorce, and found myself a single mom, and gained to about 275. I re-married, and had a second son, after whose birth I gained up to about 300. Fast forward 4 years, and about 50 lbs., and I gave birth to a beautiful daughter. In the 7 years after her birth, I gained up to a hefty 397 lbs. I was miserable, could barely get around, and was very sad. I knew that the only way I could get control of my weight was with some help. My husband was also overweight, and had been most of his life. Together, we made the decision to seek out a surgeon and go through weight loss surgery together. We met Dr. Avara in July of 2009, and on August 17, 2009, did the greatest thing we could have done for our futures, and the future of our family. My husband has lost 125 lbs., and I have lost about 85 lbs.
