Hi Christy, the app I used is called Monitor Your Weight. I love it! Happy New Year to you! =)
  10. Hi Julia! I have been doing ok.
I haven't been on here for a few days, so I didn't see your message. Have a great week!
  11. I'm just not doing as great as I wanted to be. I'm probably getting 20-30 grams of protein also. I went to GNC and bought Isopure. It tastes kind of like fruity syrup, but it's working better for me than the milky supplements. I'm going to try the unflavored powder today I think. Warm drinks seem to go down better.

I went to have blood work done on Wednesday, but they couldn't get any blood because I was so dehydrated. My nutritionist said to work on fluids first, protein second. I'm trying that.

My tastes have definitely changed - I liked the chocolate Pure Protein before the surgery but it's way too sweet for me now.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Sorry it took me so long to respond, I thought your message would pop up on my notifications, and it didn't. (Or I was on drugs and don't remember it! LOL)

    Talk to you soon!
    Julia
  12. My surgery went really well.
How are you feeling now? Are you able to drink much in one sitting? Have you found any tastes that have changed?
  13. Gosh, I hope yours is going better than mine! I used Dr. Gorospe (down in Wagoner). It was quite a stay - supposed to be in the hospital one night, but I was getting more short of breath and couldn't walk as far. Finally made the doc come back and see me. I had bleeding and required a blood transfusion. Yuck. I ended up 3 nights in the hospital. I'm just now feeling like I am almost human. Still not anywhere close to being able to take in all the protein or fluids. How are you doing on protein? I'm trying hard, but only getting in about 30 grams a day. Who was your doctor, and how's your recovery going?

About Oklahomom
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I was married for 22 years, and recently divorced, I have 5 awesome kids ages 13-21. I have always been well over 200 pounds my entire adult life. It didn't dawn on me until my youngest was 9 that I could no longer say I was carrying extra baby weight. My family has several obese family members with diabetes and heart problems. I decided to do the surgery as preventative reasons, in hopes that I won't end up with those conditions either. I want to set a good example and break the cycle before my kids become heavy. I have spent 20+ years taking care of everyone else's needs and ignoring mine. Now that my kids are older, I decided it was time to spend a little time, money and focus on myself. Everything is in God's timing, but wish I had done this year's ago. I've not yet felt selfish, or not good enough that I couldn't do it 'the old fashioned way'. I have given myself the gift of health, life expectancy has been extended and I will be able to be there and participate in my families lives for many years to come, God willing.

Thyroid issues

by Oklahomom on 12-17-2014 at 05:57 PM
I am 13 months out and have lost 95 pounds. My goal was 101 by my 1st year surgiversary, but my health has not been the best the last 6 weeks. On my one year check-up, I mentioned a sore neck to my Dr. Turns out that my thyroid was very swollen. I did some blood work and it came back fairly good. He started me on 2 different thyroid medicines and sent me for an ultrasound of my thyroid. Turns out I have several nodules on my thyroid. Two and a half weeks after the ultrasound, I had a thyroid

I'm still moving along

by Oklahomom on 08-18-2014 at 09:17 PM
I haven't posted for a few months life has returned to normal-food and lifestyle at least. Meaning that my new way of eating, exercising and my mind set have all changed since my surgery, but it is now 'normal' to me. I haven't logged my food and exercise as diligently as the first half of the year, as I've learned what my new normal is and how much is enough.
I am down 90 pounds, from a size 2X top and 22 pants, to a small to medium top and 8-10 pants. I'd like to lose 11 pounds to

Reached 2 exercise records in one weekend!

by Oklahomom on 06-08-2014 at 06:31 PM
This afternoon my 14 year old son and I took a 6.7 mile bike ride, including 1 mile up a steep hill without stopping. My Runkeeper said it was a 244 foot elevation change throughout our ride. It felt great and I wasn't out of breath or sore. I think it's time I get my own bike. We are going to set a 20 mile goal by end of Summer.
Yesterday after my Tabata class, I still felt full of energy, so I hopped on the treadmill. I walked 1/3 mile and felt like I was going no where. I decided

Chia Seeds

by Oklahomom on 06-02-2014 at 05:34 PM
Has anyone used/eaten chia seeds since their sleeve? Did not try them pre-surgery either, but am interested in if they help with hunger and if they bothered your new stomach.

maintenance and hair loss

by Oklahomom on 04-22-2014 at 09:00 AM
Have any of you who are one year post-op or more, notice if the hair loss stopped about the same time you hit your target weight? Was just wondering if there was any correlation or coincidence to this. I started losing my hair early... like 5 weeks post-op, not 3 months like most have. I am 5 months out and still losing LOTS of hair. It started out very, very thick and now I'm seeing significant 'patches' on my scalp. Stress seems to accelerate it, and I have had a lot of stress the last 2 weeks.
