CNherrin- absolutely not! I wanted to know the ins and outs and that has me prepared to talk with him about this issue preop! (the best way to get him if I need him, etc) I have already had some frustration about trying to get in touch w them just to have my appts set up. But hopefully will have surgery in September. How far out are you and how are you doing?

He is super amazing. I have no had one single problem. I actually saw him the other day and he said I'm doing great. I haven't weighed myself in a couple of weeks so I can't give you an up to date weightless but as of 3 weeks to a month go I was down 80 lbs. I have been losing about 10 lbs per month except in the beginning I lost really fast and the last month or so I've been slowing down on my weight loss bc my body is starting to even out. But all and all dr lavin is the best in the state and he makes sure you are well taken care of. I second that of cnherrin. He is a good surgeon but I've only actually seen him once, and that was at my pre op appointment. I didn't even see him when I was in the hospital after surgery because he is always in surgery. So far I'm only 7 days out so I really haven't been having too many complications but severe gas, and when I went for my post op appointment today they weren't too helpful like cnherrin stated. She just suggested Gas X, which I'm eating like candy to no avail, walking, which I'm doing, but could probably do a little more of, and time. Hope this helps and good luck!

Dr Lavin is a good surgeon but the problem is he's always in surgery and you never get to talk to him and his office is useless. I had alot of problems in the beginning and his office or nurse practioners was no help at all. I finally got straight after about 6 weeks when I finally got Dr Lavin on the phone because he was on call and he had no clue what had been going on but he got things straight after that. If there's any questions you have or anything I can help you with let me know!!

Also the protein drinks that are recommended are called "Whey protein drinks" they're pretty good with skim milk plus. You need to have 2 of them a day to replace 2 meals for the first 3 stages and then once you start eating solid food you can have 1 for a meal replacement, but be prepared to give up a lot of foods you once liked, it's not that hard.

Hi thnx for commenting on my post, I had my surgery about 15 days ago and I am back to my self meaning I have energy I just can't lift anything over 15 lbs at least not yet. Other than that everything is great.

Thank you, Jeff! I am at the beginning... my biggest question at this point is why will this work when nothing else has. What if I don't have the willpower? But I know I have the answer to that one and unfortunately no one can answer that for me. I am a bit curious about the protein drinks mentioned. Is this something I will need to drink forever...seems like that would get expensive. And do you plan to be able to "eat normal" just w small quantities? Have you experienced any bad effects from surgery? Thanks for answering!
