Hi Pam. I'm doing great. Still have some tummy issues, but I am so thankful for my sleeve. It has given me new life! I am so glad to hear that you are taking good care of yourself, and glad that your hubby is supporting you with the exercise. That makes it soo good! Lets stay in touch. God Bless!

How are you doing? How is your weight loss going. We haven't talked in a very long time. Are you still having stomach problems? I have also experienced a lot of problems with my tummy. My surgery was July 3, 2012, and I have just recently stopped having pain, nausea, and various stomach problem. I am lactose intolerant now. I am doing well now. Loving my sleeve as well. My goal was 140 lbs. I am maintained at 133 lbs. I weigh every morning and stay on top of my weight. I eat just about anything I want, but it's all in moderation. Portion size had always been my problem. With my sleeve, I get full so easy that I just quit eating. Leaving food on my plate does not bother me anymore. I try to be careful because I don't want to stretch my stomach. I have always had a weight problem, and thankfully that's not a problem anymore.

I know how bad each of you feel, but believe me, it will get better and it is SO worth it. Learning how to eat and healing takes time. Would love to hear from you. God Bless! Dylee

Hi, mimipam! You are just right down the road from me. I am in Lanett. How are you doing since your surgery? I have to admit that I am getting more nervous as July 16th gets closer. I had lapband surgery in 2010, revised 2011, removed 2012. I guess the main thing is removing 85% of my stomach (at age 66). I worry about leakage. Have you had any problems?

    Thank you for the encouragement!

    Blessings......

  10. Thanks so much mimipam!!! So far I've been very pleased with this group, they offer a ton of advice and support!!! My surgery is 12 days away, so I'm beginning to get nervous, but there is NO doubt in my mind that I want to do this! As you said, wish I had done it a long time ago! Thank you for the lovely welcome!!!

Thanks so much. I have just decided to continue with my gut instinct, keep my stiches in for 2 weeks or longer and walk like my life depends on it, and oh yeah...sip, sip, sip!!! thanks for your story though and congratulations on your loss, it's awesome!!

Pam, It sounds like you are off to a great start. Did you like Mexico and Dr A? I loved it down there. They were awesome.

Hi Pam, I started exercising on the treadmill after I went to see the doc for my follow-up which was 12 days after surgery. Then I started swimming when I was 21 days post-op. As for calories I get in two protein shakes a day which are 160 calories each and then an egg which is 70 or a cheese stick which is 100 and that is about all the calories that I get in right now. hope that answers your questions.

@mimipam- how are you today? I'm bummed that I missed you in MX. Sounds as if everything went well though. I was pretty sick the night of surgery (I had my surgery at 9am) but late that night I started vomiting. Of course there was nothing but saliva. Still, no one likes vomiting. When I got home Saturday morning I developed a fever and it hung around 102 degrees till Monday morning. (thank God for the long weekend)I don't know if I'm allergic to the stiches or if I had an infection but I'm back at work today. Each day gets a little better. I too get a pain every time I drink something, even water. I have had nothing but juice, water, tea and popsicles. Today I'm trying a cream soup...got about 4 tablespoons in. I'm worried I'm not getting enough protein. I have brain fog. Today is one week post opp so I'm entering week 2. I'm going to take my stitches out today after work, they are driving me crazy, poking through my shirt all the time. I don't understand why they don't use Steri Strips. I'm going to put those on (Steri Strips) just in case but I'm sure my incisions are all closed up.

Let's get this show on the road......

by mimipam on 05-10-2013 at 07:37 AM
My surgery date is 5/24 - I just realized that's 2 weeks from TODAY! I am very excited and also nervous. I am having a lot of trouble sleeping - thoughts racing through my head of how my life is going to change. I live in Alabama and I'm having my surgery in Mexico because my insurance won't cover anything related to WLS. After fighting this battle basically my entire life, I am SO ready to get this show on the road...LOL.
