    I'm doing great! You?
  6. Good glad you are doing better. I have some discomfort after eating, can't quite say it's nausea or pain. Just discomfort. Ohhhhh what are your secret weapons. Share, maybe I can benefit too. I went back to work @ 3 wks. Luckily it is usually a desk job.
  7. How are you doing. Saw your picture and thought about you. I know you were having a little difficulty in the beginning. Hope things have improved. Merry Christmas to you and I hope you have a wonderful, healthy and successful new year.

Congrats! Glad almost everything is going well. Water is easy enough for me, but eating is still a 'pain', so to speak. I do it too fast.
  15. Hey guys! So had my surgery right on schedule Monday morning. According to the surgeon and everyone involved the surgery pretty much textbook, no surprises. The recovery however was a nightmare. I woke up from the anesthesia in absolute pain and agony. When I got to the unit, they were only giving me a PCA morphine pump and Zofran every 6 hours and that was just not cutting it. They were extremely late getting my Barium swallow test, which is the only way I can get off MPO status if I passed it. Buy the time I got it at like 9:30, my stomach had so much swelling in it the contrast was just sitting at the top of my esophagus and not flowing through my stomach. So I ended up throwing it up along with lots of blood. I kept whining about how much pain I was in and the morphine and zofran was just not doing it, so they finally gave me dilaudid and phenegran and torodol for the swelling, and that seemed to do the trick. They were just surprised that my recovery was so slow and most healthy people sleeves don't need that much. BUT I SURE DID. If I could give any advice is do not let yourself be in pain just to appease the staff. I had to insist several times that the original combination. So I have been on around the clock meds. I failed a second Barium test at about 8 A.M. so my doctor told them just to let me rest my stomach and we will try again as soon as I feel like I can pass. So I have not had a thing to drink since Sunday night And I am getting better.

Latest update!!!!

by KSmith on 03-07-2013 at 09:28 AM
Hello all,
I know its been a while since my last update so let me fill you in!
February was a good month for me. My mother finally moved out, she had been with me since I was two weeks pre-op. I was doing good on dieting, I was off nausea/vomiting medication, I was doing good on fluid intake and I was motivated. I was even getting comfortable with not losing as rapidly, so I joined a gym and started focusing on toning and getting strong. My friends surprised me with a hotel weekend

ONE MONTH ANNIVERSARY: Food Anxiety

by KSmith on 01-03-2013 at 12:50 PM
It has been exactly one month since my gastric sleeve, and I can say this has been one of the most exciting, emotional, and difficult times of my life. I had my one month follow up last week and health-wise I am doing good. They said I am slightly above average in weight loss so I may want to slow down a hair. I was having problems with what was described as "food anxiety". I was stuck eating the safe foods that did not have much value like you eat in the post op diet. Because of a couple

Day 6 Post-Op

by KSmith on 12-08-2012 at 02:50 PM
So I ended up having to stay an extra day in the hospital. I never passed the barium test, but was finally allowed liquids on Wednesday. Everything was gross to me, and drinking really really hurt. My surgeons assistant said I was still very swollen and it would take time. Also I found out plain water hurts THE WORST going down. My usual sugar-free beverages like G2 and mio were too watery, and I had to go to slightly sugary drinks like V8 Splash and 100% Apple Juice just to keep my intake up. It

4 days to go

by KSmith on 11-29-2012 at 09:52 PM
So It was a stressful week, getting ready for everything that is about to happen in my life. I am trying to stay positive and keep motivated. Its not even about the food or liquid diet, but just the change and everyday life. I envy those that don't have to work or take care of family members going through all this stuff, but that is like no one right? I weighed late in the day to get my heavy number (keeping it realistic) and lost a little bit more on the liquid diet. I'm just going to rest and
