    congratulation ... very good progress
  2. I'm not really exercising at all right now. I want to get in the habit of doing more walking, too, but I just haven't. We're moving soon and will have an exercise room, so I'm excited about that! Thanks for the encouragement!
  3. You are doing awesome! How much are you exercising?

ok... then I'll kinda follow on your heels, lol. I usually have a protein shake for breakfast. However, I will remember to do oatmeal. I love it. I usually try to eat 3-5 bites (small spoons) and then quit for a while. I get satisfied easily, haven't overdone it just yet. I don't want to either, lol. I am also BAD about measuring my food or liquids. I should, but....

I honestly think that part of my 'problem' is that I feel TOO GOOD. I don't really feel like I had surgery and I have all this new energy (from carrying less weight, I guess) and I am a person that has a majorly hard time focusing on anything.

Hi, how are you? I see you had surgery just a few days before me and that you pushed it a little on the soft foods too. Are you doing better?
  6. Girl, I know what you mean. Even after reading the blogs, having previous bigger surgeries it was more than I expected too. But it is surely getting better. Good luck to you.
  7. Very sore, much more than I expected. I'll post more later. Thank you!

Eating to Satisfaction

by STackert on 01-16-2013 at 10:25 AM
I just wanted to say that at the beginning I really struggled with not being able to eat very much until I got really full. Now, I'm learning what my new portion sizes are and how to recognize the feeling I get right before I'm overly full. I guess that feeling is called "satisfaction?"

As an overweight person, I rarely ate to a level of satisfaction. I don't think I ever knew what that was. Now, when I eat to the level of satisfaction, I'm physically and emotionally

by STackert on 01-16-2013 at 08:34 AM
Today is a very special day! I am officially half-way to meeting my goal of losing 80 lbs.! My surgery was two months and two days ago, and I couldn't be happier with my progress. Feeling good about myself, physically and mentally. Feeling lighter in my steps. 40 lbs. is a lot of weight! Anyway, I just wanted to share my excitement with you. No regrets whatsoever about having the sleeve!!!

I'm leaving this morning for a short trip (just overnight, thankfully), and I'm trying to pack food that doesn't need refrigeration. Any tips?

Ding! Dong! The Drain is Gone!!!

by STackert on 11-26-2012 at 04:43 PM
After 12 days of living with a drain inserted into my abdomen, I am FREE!!! I was very anxious about getting it pulled out especially since the insertion site was red and nasty looking. I was told it wouldn't hurt but I would feel an unusualy sensation feeling it pulled. Baloney!!! It hurt. It took my breath away, it hurt so badly. It must've only lasted 5 or 6 seconds, but it was extremely uncomfortable. I'm just so glad that it behind me. I definitely feel like now that the worst is all

Thanksgiving Tears

by STackert on 11-23-2012 at 09:20 AM
Well, I have to admit that this time yesterday morning, I was having a little pity party and shed actual tears. It's silly, I know, but I was grieving over the fact that I would not get to partake in eating all the wonderful foods that were being prepared. And worst than that, I had to watch everyone around me eat the succulent turkey, moist dressing (My mother's is the best!), sweet potatoes, broccoli and rice, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, and on and on...

So before we left
