Yes! I guess I can give him a half of a golden star heheh.......I think I consider myself a little lucky because my BF cousin who is a bariatric surgeon and is chief of staff in that hospital... I been trying to bombard him with questions... because the surgeon I was speaking to obivously did an ok job answering my questions... So,when I talked to his cousin he actually mentioned that due to studies and research he has done and seen we can live without a stomach and reassured me that this was best option under bariatric world... At the time I was debating btwn lapband and the sleeve and slowly decide on the sleeve since the band can have its own complications.... After reading the post of nueropathy compliactions the other day ... I never consider that area of issues that could occur so it really intrigued me to research more on the sleeve and call my BF cousin in which I have not been able to reach since he lives in Texas. Anywho, I was really glad to read your response because it helps know that the sleeve is something that has been around for a while but it is more commonly used now... which brings much relief to me ... I wouldnt want get sleeved and then end up with crazy complications but now reading your story...oh my I admire your strength!!! thank you for being so open with me and all of us on this forum.

Hi Fawn, Thank you so much for being of help...you may be shocked or not to know that when I asked the head surgeon of the bariatric center I have been going to. I asked him inregards to how long the surgery has been around and what are known possible complications that can come with time... He mentioned that it was newly accepted by many insurance providers. The sleeve is part of another procedure and it was discovered worked on its own... research is still being done and it is fairly new procedure. He then mentioned that the procedure has been done by Kaiser for about 10 years or so its not new but it has been newly accepted by other insurance providers.... his answer of course did not answer any of my questions completely ....

Newly sleeved? Need to find better tasting water for right after surgery?

by ~Fawn on 08-12-2013 at 05:37 PM
My doc approved this because I simply could not do water...of any kind or added flavor..

After my taste buds came back, I still like it, and mix it in with other juices like Minute Maid 15 calorie juice

by ~Fawn on 08-11-2013 at 08:33 PM
Ok, I have had to reflect back on my year of craziness...

Last year, my friends threw me a surprise 40th birthday party...to their surprise, I actually turned 41! Ha! I was trying to avoid the dreaded surprise party, so the year before I told them I was 39...little did I know someone would remember and get me the next year!!! OMG it was hilarious.

Anyway, They Surprised me on August 10th, the day before as I showed up to go camping with them. I have posted the photo

I have been asked about my story: here it is in its fullest unabridged ....from an email I sent...

by ~Fawn on 07-31-2013 at 09:15 PM
No need to worry, the percentage of anything going wrong, is miniscule...first and foremost...and second, it is usually because the patient has other contributing factors...like me. I had spent the previous 2 months in a friend's home that had mold, major dust, and was a hording house. I have sever asthma. I spent one week at home trying to recover before I went in for surgery. not enough time...
My story:
My BF broke up with me soon after getting home

8 month sleeversary....update with pics

by ~Fawn on 07-28-2013 at 10:46 AM
Hi! I am so excited to share my continuing saga...

So two months ago I was actually able to fit into a size 6 albeit a little uncomfortable...today it is a reality! I can even fit suit jackets and dresses in an 8, this is unreal as my chest has always been too big for anything smaller than a 12.

I started core exercises after my last blog entry, they have done me a world of good! Yeah!

12 days ago, my daughter had my first grandchild, after these pics
