  1. I loved your comment about the gastric sleeve that "you told everyone that would listen" - me too, i see no point in doing a complete change of life, and having to suffer and hide - it's a big choice, and I wanted to be "clean" about it = too much at stake to go through alone!!

Hi!! I see you're sailing along! I hope you feel great. I have been doing well enough that I don't even feel like I just had surgery, lol. My tummy is tender if I forget and lean on it, but doesn't hurt otherwise. I can almost sleep on it...probably can, but still too cautious. Please let me know how you're doing.

    Hi , Lucy.
I'm Shellie and I was talking to Fawn. I live in Otsego. I have had Crohns for many years, originally they thought it was ulcertive colitis. I was diagnoised in 2006, and had a bowel resection. Needless to say no one would touch me for the surgery. The sleeve was just coming out and insurance wouldnt pay for it. I was sleeved 9-28-12. I haven't had any problems at all. I am still very careful with what I eat. Slowly adding new food. I eat about 3-4 oz at a time. The only thing that doesnt set well sometimes are my protien drinks. I drink the Atkins advantage. Before surgery no problem, but after surgery sometimes when I have one I have to go to the bathroom right away. Othertimes it is just fine. I have skim milk three times a day. Havent had any problem with that. I think it is just trial and error. Good luck. I know you will do well. Keep me posted . Oh, make sure you drink your water. I had a hard time at first getting 48oz in. Now I drink at least 64 oz a day. I feel so good when I get my water in. I think it is so important with our Crohns to stay hydrated. Take care, Shellie!

11 months - wow what a difference

by Lucy61 on 10-11-2013 at 12:31 AM
I have depended on this site so much for my support and counted on so much support from everybody that was/had been thru their journeys. I read today the same posts I read a year ago, you are all going thru the same things/questions/concerns I had, it's like a revolving door. Yes we are successful, yes there are struggles, yes it is hard, yes it is 50% mental in the challenge to keep it off.

I will forever struggle with my weight, but now I can do it without my stomach fighting me

Gallbladder coming out today... or maybe tomorrow

by Lucy61 on 08-26-2013 at 11:02 AM
I'm 10 months out and my gallbladder decided to fill up with gallstones and cause me some SERIOUS pain yesterday. It's the only thing I've had since this surgery that is on the down side. I should have paid attention to the signs - last couple weeks I've been eating more pepcid - haven't had to take hardly any since this surgery. I also thought I was having a dream and my stomach hurting about a week ago, but it was the same pain as yesterday, just much shorter. So here I sit, waiting for the doc's

3rd surgery in 6 months... can my body handle it?

by Lucy61 on 05-23-2013 at 12:54 AM
Well I had my VSG 6 months ago, since then I had a minor foot surgery (couple nuroma's removed), but today my arm surgeon said that they are going to do a pretty major surgery fixing my arm - both (simply put) tennis & golfers elbow at the same time, cutting out the bad tendons and re-attaching to the elbow - I will be at least 3 months of rehab. This is so much more than any surgery I've had, I'm worried about how much stress my body can handle, I know being at a healthier weight now will help
