Yep that's the funny thing about extra weight - it ALWAYS finds you. Might take a little time or alot - but it gets you in the end (literally).

Hey there - thanks for the response. It's interesting that the things that you avoid are the carb heavy things we need to avoid anyway. I'm very cranky that we all got off protein in the 80's and started eating an almost vege diet full of cheese, bread, rice and pasta - did me no good at all and I stacked on the weight - which remains to this day. I've lost it - but then again I seemed to have found it - or it found me.

Hi Liz. In your lead up to the decision to have the sleeve - or indeed the band, did you look at a metabolic physician and other avenues? I'm really concerned about losing 80% of my tummy.
  4. Hey Truebody, things were pretty tough post-sleeve as I had a band (actually 2 bands previously when one slipped they took it out and replaced it with a new one which caused other issues) and because of the mess left in my abdomen surgery took 8 hours! Was in hospital for a week with NGT in central line. But I am very happy with the sleeve, so far no where near as many problems as the band was. If you don't have a band, from my experience don't get one, get the sleeve. I know it seems like the easier less invasive option but really if you are wanting to lose weight you don't want the option of putting it back on. Do some research though. My weight has been a little slower than some, have lost 20kg in 3 months, some lose a lot more than that but it is not that unusual if you have had a band previously to lose weight slower, metabolism already stuffed or just body is used to less food, not sure. If you have any other questions feel free to send me a message. At 3 months out I am very happy with my sleeve

Your doing great just try n eat foods that have lots of protein in the early days I got lean mince n made chilli n spaghetti sauce and ate it with cottage cheese or with veggie mash n gravy. Meat n fish have a lot of protein so once you start eating normal again u will be surprised how easy it is to get ur protein in. The only time I add protein to anything would be if I have yoghurt. It's hard getting ur water in at first try having benefibre the orange flavour mixed into a bottle of water that helps as does tea. U will get the hang of things easy enough and it will all become a natural part of life. I found if I was ever craving meat it was usually around period time or if my iron was low. N congrats on the 12 kg that's an awesome start
  8. Hi, I am doing really well. Healing well, not in much pain, have to keep reminding myself today to sip rather than gulp as things are getting easier. Not really hungry but getting a bit light headed due to lack of food I think. Getting about a litre of fluid in now, probably only about 30gm of protein though. Can't stand the premade protein drinks so making up my own. I had lost 3kg on Thursday 6 days post-op weighed myself again on sat and had lost 4.5kg in 2 days. Bizarre but good really craving meat for some reason which is weird as I haven't really enjoyed meat since I was pregnant 4 years ago! loved your before and after photos. Can't wait to have lost that much, well done. In total including pre-op have lost 12kg.

I know hospital sucks but try to enjoy the controlled and assisted environment as much as you can.
Now that I'm home it's a bit more challenging and I'm always scared of damaging the staple line.
Every ache or twinge of pain makes me wonder if I've done something wrong.
But on the bright side. I'm definitely eating less. Lol
