HI Karla, I haven't been on here for quite awhile. Have you? I was rereading some of our conversation and was wondering how you are doing? I have pretty much stopped losing weight just before the 2 yr point. Just have held at 60 lbs down for about 8 mos now. I don't know if you know this but originally I did this surgery not only for the weightloss but more importantly for the pain relief I was hoping to get with it. Well the pain relief is still a work in progress. Reading back through our thread I thought you might be interested in following my journey on FB I have set up a page called Healthy with Fibro, and it will follow through my renewed journey to health. Check it out if you are so inclined, hope to see you there.

Really listen to it and allow it to help you know when to stop eating. We have gotten really used to eating through that feeling before, but now it should be an alert to stop, if you don't it will hurt. I have been trying to focus on that feeling and listen to my body, when I don't boy do I pay for it. Another thing I am really starting is a vegan diet. Much of it being juicing and using the vitamix for smoothies. Taking in whole natural foods. A smoothie I can sip on all morning, the healthy eating style, not so much all the protein everyone recommends has helped a ton. There is more protein in veggies than people think especially spinach, kale etc. I struggle with fibromyalgia too so that is also the reason for the diet change. I really know that you can do this. You just need to find what works for you. Don't allow yourself to slip into the mindset of giving up and settling for all over again. You still have the tool, your stomach is still small don't let it beat you. You need to take control and overcome. You can do this!

Karla, I am so sorry that I haven't gotten back to you sooner, my computer completely broke and is going to need to be replaced. I am using my sons IPad to respond. I found that I was in a very long stall at about 6mos too. In fact it finally broke just over the last couple weeks. The sad thing about it though is even though I have left it behind my weightloss has slowed considerably. Sadly, gone are the days of pounds falling off a week. I never had the weight fall off quite as fast as others, I averaged about 10 lbs a mo. That has slowed to 4-5 lbs a mo. The good thing is that the weight is still coming off and not adding back on. I am finding that I am still hungry but I can't eat much at all. Are you able to eat a lot? The thing is we have always known that this is a tool to help us lose weight and it sounds like you have hit the place where the work needs to begin, I know more than before right? Hopefully your stomach still helps you feel restriction, take advantage of that feeling.

Karla, I know exactly what you mean about the setting. I still have been trying to process how I feel about it myself, and it has been over a month since surgery. I started to freak out a little bit too, and when I started asking questions in the operating room they answered like one of them but the anesthesiologist must have snuck the stuff into my IV because the next thing I remember is walking into the recovery room. I felt a little tricked. My husband was with me, but he wasn't back in the back with me and didn't see what I saw. Thankfully I too, I only had 3 people getting sleeved I can't imagine being there on a day with a full schedule. I am thankful for a small group. I haven't had any complications from the surgery itself, I had complete confidence in Dr. Almanza, but not so much with the rest of the staff. If there had been something really complicated happen, I'm just not sure how it would have been handled. I have noticed that I am able to drink more at a time the further out I am. I think that eventually as things heal guzzling a bottle of water may be something that you can eventually do. I hope so, I can't tell you how bad I just want to guzzle down some water, but I am taking bigger drinks at a time now so there is still hope. Remember we did a very brave and almost unthinkable thing. When I think about what I did, I almost can't believe that I did it. Not only the surgery itself, but the travel etc. I am here to listen anytime.
  7. OK, I CAN NOW SAY THE FOLLOWING THINGS AFTER 17 DAY, I DID NOT GET SICK, I DID NOT FEEL BAD, MY BACK WAS SORE BECAUSE I HAD TO MAKE SURE I DID NOT ROLL OVER ON TO THE AREA I HAD SURGERY SO THAT WAS NOT THAT GREAT. BUT MY HUSBAND PUT ME A HEATING PAD AND THAT HAS MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. THE FIRST WEEK I CRIED IT IS HARD PEOPLE THIS POST OP THING IS HARD. I CAN NOT GET IN THE WATER, I CAN NOT EAT ANYTING, I WAS GOING OUT OF MY MIND. THEN IT HIT ME I LOVE WONTON SOUP JUST EAT OR DRINK THE BROTH, I LIKE WEDDING SOUP JUST DO THE BROTH, I LIKE CHICKEN NOODLE SUOP FROM A LOT OF DIFFERENT PLACES SO DRIVE AROUND AND GET IT FROM DIFFERNENT PLACES. THEN THIS THING TURNED INTO FUN. i HAVE HAD SO MANY DIFFERENT CLEAR SOUP BROTHS. THE CRYSTAL LIGHT WAS GOOD TOO. NOW IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU TAKE YOU MUCH NEED VITAMINS EACH DAY START EARLY AND STICK TO IT. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS THING DOES WORK. HERE IS A LITTLE LESSON I LEARNED ABOUT GRITS. I AM FROM THE SOUTH LOVE GRITS COUND NOT WAIT TO GET ME A SPOON FULL ...BOOO I COULD ONLY EAT ABOUT TWO TEASPOONS FULL AND THAT WAS IT. JUST THINK HOW THIN I COULD HAVE BEEN YEARS AGO IF I COULD HAVE ONLY EATEN TWO TEASPOONS FULL. THAT WAS A BIG WASTE OF MONEY. OH YEAH, I AN DOWN 22 POUNDS SINCE SURGERY.

TAKE CARE SHARE MORE LATER AS IT COMES.........

Happy for you success, thank you for the information
  9. Be ready when you want to the mommie make over it is a very very very long surgery . When you have loving and real caring doctors . One lady was here for that they starred yesterday at 3pm and they did not finish until this morning at 1 am. I have spoken to her yet however her mother was up with us and the staff was giving updates and she had three different doctors doing the work. Deep.
  10. Thank you all for your prayers and support. It is over and I am ready for my next steps. I had to get an extra cut not sure yet why. I stayed in bed all day after only to get up to go to the bathroom. Now the gas part for me has not been bad at all. Reason I did the pre-op for ten days and stayed with it and I also took a lax threes before two days before and the night before so I was empty empty so I had very little trapped gas. Now this morning I feel pressure it is from the gas from not moving around yesterday I think. Now I am ready for my own bed and quiet time. Last there was so much noise everyone working here was watching the baseball game..getting on my nevers with all the very very loud talking and yelling. This is a full male staff and I only saw one female ..however this was the weekend. You have to walk down to surgery and walk back that was stranger all steps up and down. The greatest part was having a mother here with her daughter and she helped a lot. She had the sleeve two years ago and she knew slot. Well I will keep everyone posted and again to all my new friends thank you so much for reaching out to me I am here alone with God and you.
