Hi Deanna, I am going thru the process now with Dr Nicholson & Cigna. I havent had any problems so far with Cigna. I will have my 3rd nutrionist appt. in January and I am hoping it wont be too long after that before I have the surgery. My prayers are with you. Any comments on Dr Nicholson would be appreciated.

My original doctor in Dallas? Its complicated. I first had an intestinal bypass in 1981 in California, the very first weight loss surgery done in the US. Most patients who had it died with liver or kidney failure from malnutrition. I was one of the lucky ones with no problems till the 90s. When I started having issues, Dr. John Alexander at RHD in Dallas converted me to a Roux n Y Gastric Bypass. It was all good for a week till I weent septic and was back in the hospital. He had left a clamp in me that ruptured the internal incision. I almost died, but they got me fixed. A year later when I started having trouble again I went to Dr. Harry Meyers at Presby Plano in Dallas. Curiously, all my records from RHD on the clamp and sepsis had disappeared, but Dr. Meyers converted me to a sleeve and you have read the rest. I dont regret going from 300 lbs to 130, but it has been a difficult journey for me at least. Would I do it again? Definately, but would start with a sleeve!
