  1. Hi! We're doing great! Yeah, I am pleased with my results. You always seem to want faster results but 2 lbs a week in nothing to sneeze at. We all wish it could be a pound a day. Megan is doing very well. But she is always so busy. She finished finals yesterday & has a 2 wk break, then back to school. She is taking one extra class this semester to catch up so she can graduate end of 2011. She's a gluten for punishment! She said her last weigh in was 151, her goal is 145 by her next Dr. appt on the 15th. She is scheduled with her endocrinologist & really wants to show off her sleeve results to him!

How about you folks? How's everything in the great white north? We're getting a break in the heat in Iraq now, starting to cool off, of course that means the high today was 108*, not the 128* it was last week. Who'd thought we say, wow! it's not bad for 108*. Keep in touch... DAVE

I was sleevedin Nov . and am going to take my 18 year old daughter to be sleeved on the 7th of July. Good luck to you two.
  13. Hello! The cost of the surgery is $4500.00 and that is out of pocket for us. Our medical insurance will not pay for vertical sleeve but will only pay for gastric bypass. Even if we wanted the bypass by the time we paid for our deductable we would still have been paying more than the surgery in Mexico.

We will keep you posted on our results. I think we are both nervous but excited at the same time!

Where are you girls from. I am from Alberta and just wondering about the cost of surgery and the insurance we have to get for the surgery also. I am looking into this for my 18 yr old daughter.

Welcome to the board and congratulations on your decision to have the gastric sleeve.

I have a few suggestions. For a clear protein, I suggest Protica Profect 50. It is a whopping 50 grams of protein in a 3.2 oz vial Protica - Detail

For a really great tasting protein powder, I suggest Max Protein. You can purchase at GNC or online. SEI Pharmaceuticals

To keep track of your calorie intake and measurements and weight. FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal This is really useful when you think you've stalled on your weight loss. You can look at what you actually measure!

Last but not least this blog - theworldaccordingtoeggface She had a different surgery, but posts some great recipe's and suggestions.

I was on clear liquids for a week, full liquids for another week, puree'd foods for a week, soft foods for a week and then slowly moved on to regular foods while still including the previous foods into my daily food intake. Just don't get ahead of yourself. Take small sips and then small bites. Don't be in a big hurry to eat whatever you want.

Keep a positive attitude and you will do great!

Our Journey

Day 7 after surgery and I am feeling great! I actually have a tremendous amount of energy. My husband and I were talking about our adventure this morning and we are still using words like traumatic. Let me preface this by saying we live in a very small community so some of what we experienced was big city shock. I thought I would describe our journey for you. This is not to discourage anyone from having the surgery but instead inform people of what we experienced so they will not be in shock

One odd thing, I am not the slightest bit hungry, although I saw a picture of a red bell pepper and I have been obessing about it since. Wierd right?
