"I have been having sugar free popsicles when I think I have to snack. Even if I eat multiple ones I don't feel bad about it because it is still better than a bag of chips, chocolate and ice cream one right after another in the evening. That is the way I used to eat and it is really hard to control those urges now. I find the good thing is with the sleeve I simply can't eat the amount I used to. Yeah! I just have to come up with another evening snack to replace the popsicles when it gets cooler. I won't want a popsicle when it is 30 degrees outside. Any ideas let me know!

Thanks for starting the conversation Gwyn. I feel like I like this site but truthfully I am not getting a whole lot from any particular group I have joined because just like you said there doesn't seem to be much going on within any group I have joined."

Ideas for when it's cold outside and popsicles won't cut it... Keep hard boiled eggs on hand, slice lengthwise and pop the yokes out (to keep it a guilt free snack) and eat the whites, you can sprinkle with salt or (believe it or not) spoonable splenda if you really need sweet. I know, it sounds really weird. Also a friend of mine used to take a tablespoon of Neufschatel (lower fat version of cream cheese, basically) and mash it up with a sugar free Torani flavor syrup and eat that at night. She said it fixed all her cravings, though there IS some fat in that it's not a whole lot, AND you get protein!

    Hope these help.

I am doing great...my weight loss has also slowed down....I am down 39 pounds since august...I cant complain...I can tolerate everything I have tried...I just cant eat much of anything..which is the whole idea! Good luck to you!
  3. Hi Elaine,

My surgery was done on August 10th. I started out at 289 and now weigh 235! I have lost 54 pounds! I have gone from size 26 jeans to very slim cut size 18 women's. I put these jeans on the day before surgery and I could only pull them up to mid-thigh. A few weeks ago, I could pull them up but there was a six inch gap between the button and the button hole at the waist. Friday, I tried them on and they fit...loosely!!! I washed them and dried them in the dryer on hot. I wore them on Sunday and I really need a belt! I can pull these puppies up and down without unbuttoning and unzipping them. Is that cool or what?!

I really have to work at getting enough protein and water. My meals kind of freak me out. I am filled up at about a scant half cup of food! How can a person survive on so little food? I guess right now my body is living off of "the fat of the land " so to speak. The best part of this is that I'm actually thriving! My energy is way up. My skin looks beautiful. I feel wonderful.
  4. I am so thankful for this web site. It is a great place for support and guidance. Don't you love it!

Oh exercise. I am a teacher and I have started a little walking club. My teenage students love it. I wish we had more time, but we knock out a mile a day. For the fun of it, I give the kids a bounus point in the gradebook for every pound I loose. My students love me, and they are really excited about my progress. I also go to Curves.

My husband is so pleased with me, too. He loves me no matter what, but he is really pleased to see me so happy with myself. He has been inspired to knock off some weight himself. He has lost twenty pounds on his own just from using his treadmill and making better food choices. He only needs to loose about twenty more.

I have about eighty more pounds to go. In next week or so, I have to get bloodwork done so my surgeon can see how everything is going with my body. I really have to force myself to take the chewable vitamins. I have tried manydifferent kinds and they all taste disgusting to me. I wish I could find one I could just swallow!

So far, so good on hair loss. It's hanging in there. Oh boy, I hope that by. that, my crazy hair doesn't start falling out now!

So... how are things with you?!?

    Best Wishes,

    Patty

Thanks for the compliment! The picture was taken with a wolf who was raised by humans. His name is Hokshila and he is the "spokeswolf" for Wanagi Wolf Rescue. He is a Timber Wolf.

Follow all the rules/guidelines to the best of your ability and you will be successful with the weight loss. If you have a bad day, don't beat yourself up, just get back on your horse and start off again!

Hi I just had my surgery from Lap Band to Sleeve (revision in one surgery) along with hernia repair. My surgeon required that I stay 2 days in hospital. I was relucant at first but glad I stayed. He also placed a surgical drain which I had for 11 days and that made me so uncomfortable I was kicking myself for having surgery. Now all is better. My surgery was done Aug 3, 2012. I actually gained weight in the hospital. Im down about 25 lbs since leaving the hospital. I tried going to the gym today and could only do about 35 minutes of my body pump class. But I get stronger every day. The hard part is getting all the fluids in once you are on your own. Good luck to you.

Protein shakes

by ruby2508 on 10-10-2012 at 12:51 PM
So, here I sit drinking a chocolate protein shake. I currently are using pure protein that you can buy at Walmart in Frosty chocolate. I also like the GNC brand called Lean Shake in Chocolate as well. I put protein powder in plain yogurt to get some extra protein in. I have also put protein powder in plain oatmeal as well. You can also mix it with Ricotta or cottage cheese.

Does anyone have any other things I can do with the protein powder to get in the protein without drinking

Slow weight loss but it is going in the right direction!

by ruby2508 on 10-03-2012 at 07:35 AM
Hello all. Just a quick update. My surgery was 8/21/12 and I am down 2 more lbs today. It is coming off alot slower than I wish it would but considering I am sometimes making bad food choices it is still ok. Working everyday to get in my protein first and drink my water. Just had a greek yogurt this morning that was the plain flavor so I added a scoop of protein powder to give it some additional flavor. So that is a good start to the day!

Have a great day everyone and rock your

Things just aren't going right for me!

by ruby2508 on 09-15-2012 at 10:59 AM
My surgery was 8/21 so I am 3 weeks and 4 days out. I did well with liquid diet and lost about 10 lbs before surgery. I stayed home for 9 days and planned to return to work the day after my post op check up. My post op check went wonderful and he told me to east pureed foods for a week and then go with anything I could tolerate.

I got to work and had a regular cardiologist appt scheduled that day. When I got there my heart rate was elevated. I have a condition called atrial flutter

countdown to my big day!

by ruby2508 on 08-10-2012 at 04:58 PM
My new journey starts Tuesday August 14 with my liquid diet. Surgery is scheduled August 21st. I am having the lap band removed and the gastric sleeve done. I lost around 90 lbs with the band between 08 and 09 and then managed to put all but 20 lbs back on. I know I have that risk with the sleeve as well but just wanted the foreign object out of my belly if it is not doing its job. I can blame myself for my part but that stupid band just didn't continue to ccoperate after year two. So with
