Hey, girl. How are you doing? I started throwing up everything I ate yesterday. Same today. It's making me so weak! I had a little bit of ice cream, just for the calories, and it stayed down. I've almost completely stopped my insulin. The swelling in my legs and ankles is gone. I had a lot of energy last week, but since I can't keep food down, this week I'm tired. I took out some stitches the other day. One incision opened up, so I'm babying it. Since I'm diabetic, the nurse told me to wait until 14 days out to take out the stitches. I jumped the gun a little. I think I'm losing weight too fast, averaging 1.5 pounds a day. Maybe if I include a little sherbet everyday, it will slow down a little. Well, gotta get going. Keep in touch.

The reason my preop diet was so long is due to my high BMI and I believe I will be staying at the hotel because my mom is going with me.

Welcome to the forum! I hope you will find answers to your questions and comfort in knowing you are not alone in your journey. I had the sleeve 3 weeks ago and have found the support from this group of people priceless. No question is stupid, chances are if you are wondering about something so is somebody else. Do not let anyone tell you you are taking the easy way out because you are not. This a decision that will affect you for the rest of your life. You will learn alot about yourself and wonder how you could have lived any other way but better. Best Wishes
  12. Hello! I have a little over a month to go! I am so excited! Before joining this group I was scared to death. I have almost no support from family and friends. My partner of 7 years even threatened to leave me if I went threw with this. And I thought about it, then I scheduled my surgery 20 minutes later! My weight has always been an issue, I am only 15 pounds heavier than I was in the 7th grade, and had a weight problem at the age of 3! I've heard that I am taking the easy way out. To me It feels like the only way, and nothing seems easy about this. I have decided to jump off the diet roller coaster and start my new life! I would like to meet new people This is new to me and not sure what to expect afterward.
Thanks for taking the time to read and best of luck to you on your journey !

24 week post op update

by ambercard on 10-07-2012 at 11:18 AM
Hello every one! Just thought it was time for me to give an update. Well I need to start by saying that I LOVE my TOOL (Sleeve), and anyone considering the sleeve needs to understand that it is only a tool and still requires wise food choice (no slider foods no grazing) and exercise. If not most will never hit goal and may even gain some back. It seems that not everyone is the same some people claim that they can eat whatever they want and still loose weight even loose too much weight. Well that

by ambercard on 08-13-2012 at 09:42 AM
Hi everyone. The scale read 199.9 this morning. I have not been under 200pounds in 15 years (b4 I had my first child). I have lost 45pounds since my surgery 16 weeks ago. It has not been easy. the first two weeks the weight just came off so fast then it slowed down. I feel like I really have to work to lose any weight. no snacking!

by ambercard on 04-20-2012 at 06:23 PM
Hi ya all!
I am on day two of my pre-op diet. can I drink all the low carb shakes I want?
What can I bring on the plane as far as protein shakes and water?
I am more worried about the trip home after surgery, Does Dr Almanza's staff provide you with drinks for the trip home?
I am so excited! I do start to get really nervous at night but it really help to hear all of your story's on here, very calming. I also am surprised how easy the liquid diet has been, then again

fighting the urge

by ambercard on 04-14-2012 at 03:12 PM
So my surgery is around the corner. I really want to be successful. I joined myfitnesspal and have been trying to pay attention to my body. I have been accountable for everything I put in my mouth, good or bad. I've been paying extra attention to how I feel before and after I eat. It is so hard to know when I have eaten enough, sometimes that feeling does not hit me for like 20minuts after I am done eating. so If I didn't measure my food and make myself stop and wait I would end up overeating.
