Two miles? I think that's great, keep it up! On the 22nd will be my 3rd month weigh in for the insurance. I haven't lost any weight, actually I gained some. Haven't really made an effort. I just want the next 3 months to hurry by, so things can get moving. Don't really know if I have the correct approach, if an approach at all, but I know things will change once I know the surgery has been approved. Glad you're doing well =)

hi! just out of curiosity, your a month extra post op from Dr Roslin. He said I could start meats once im a month out, was it the same for you? Were you experimenting with anything to try out your sleeve?

Thanks, I will. =). Eight years huh? Well it's gonna be a whole new you girlfriend... take it all in. Here's to moving up and on in the world! =D
  6. Oh good! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I'm good with the surgery, but life has thrown a curve ball at me so it's been interesting. I am in the process of leaving my company after 8 years and have incredibly mixed emotions about it. Keep me updated about your doctor.

Thanks Laurie. Called on Tuesday and finally got a call back today. They recommended a Dr. Dara Huang. Gonna check her out, just waiting for a call back for an appointment. How've you been?

Hopefully it gets better for you, and you can enjoy it a bit more. I'm kinda bummed :/ I'm gonna have to do a 6 month diet requirement for the insurance. 6 months seems like forever! grrr

Hi Laurie, thought I'd stop by to say hello. Hope you're doing well. =)

Yeah I have about 30 years ago. It works the self talk that goes on in your mind and slowly has you taking responsibility. The difficulty is that you don't need alcohol to survive each day, but you do need food. It has to be the hardest addiction to shake and the fundamental difference between the two.

Laurier there is AA for overeaters. It is called OA and is run the same way. One day at a time. Check it out if you'd like to bolster your resolve.

I remember years ago buying a custom wetsuit for colder water that I grew out of within a year. That gut me. But being able to buy the wetsuits, or other equipment, that is on sale rather than having to pay premiums for the largest sizes will be nice.

Hey there fellow Diver. I've been looking forward to diving where I don't need help getting my fins on cause I can't bend over to put them on with all my gear. That and getting a travel BCD so I don't have to pay for extra baggage every time I fly to go diving. I think it would be fantastic to be naturally neutral or slightly negatively buoyant rather than needing the heaviest weight pockets on the boat.

So glad to hear you're doing well. It is definitely a learning curve to adjust to a new way of eating and drinking. I am getting about the same amount of protein as you are but maybe 48 oz. water, not counting decaf tea & coffee. Keep up the good work! It sounds like you're doing beautifully!

How are you doing? What phase of the diet are you on? I am on the pureed foods and so far, am tolerating everything I try. I am anxious to go back to the surgeon next week and see how he thinks I am doing. I feel pretty much normal but if I over-do it, I get really tired and need to rest for a while. Hard to believe the surgery was only 2 weeks ago; seems much longer than that! Hope things are going well for you and that each day is better than the day before.

getting smaller

by Justwander on 06-14-2013 at 01:07 PM
Today, a few different guys held the door open for me and many people looked me in the eye. I believe this is because I am no longer obese. It's really strange. I feel seen for the first time in a long time. I also want to yell each time for them to go find someone overweight and hold the door open for them!

update

by Justwander on 06-13-2013 at 07:29 AM
I just finished a month long trip to Indonesia, where I did tons of things I never would have pre-surgery. Hoping on the back of mopeds, surfing, hiking up and down millions of steps at different places, hiking, out dancing, etc. I am so dang happy.

Yesterday, I went shopping and bought size 12 pants. Can't believe it.

Happy Dance

by Justwander on 04-30-2013 at 07:14 PM
After a month of hovering between 200-204, I finally broke the stall and am officially in onederland. Yesterday I was 199, but I needed to see that today I was still under 200 and in fact I weigh 196. Such a good feeling. Also, I ran for 3.34 miles today. I went SUPER slow but I'm really proud of myself. I really wish my body didn't feel like a huge knot after running, but I'm sure in time I'll adjust. I stretched for about 10 min before and 20 min after.
In one week tomorrow, I

Protein shake problem. need advice.

by Justwander on 04-26-2013 at 06:54 AM
I'm in month 4 and have a protein shake every day.
I love Isagenix but it's very expensive and a pain in the butt to order so I have tried to do a few different protein shakes as well. My problem is that when I make a protein shake with the other types there is always a head of frothy foam at the top which bugs my stomach. I have to wait until it gets rid of the air to drink. Has anyone else had a similar problem? And better yet, anyone with a solution? And while I'm asking questions,

Day 76- Ran 2 Miles without stopping or crying!!!!

by Justwander on 03-04-2013 at 12:53 PM
Man, I am so dang proud that today, I put on my shoes and ran for 2 miles straight without stopping. I knew I should workout and didn't feel like and was coming up with a bunch of excuses not to workout, when I just somehow made myself do it. I was going to do the 1 mile route that I am used to but figured since I'm a lot lighter than I was before I should up my workout. I mapped out a 2 mile run and figured I would walk and run. But I ran the whole time. I'm really, really proud of myself.
