Still have not had the surgery. My appeal to my denial was denied. Back to square one. I have to go back to the surgeons office and weigh
in with a BMI of over 40 and have them resubmit my paperwork to my insurance. One day at a time. There is no sense in me getting all worked up on this issue. My regret is at this point, I should be losing weight instead of gaining to satisfy insurance requirements.

Hi Deb, me again. You and I are only 9 days apart in age. My birthday is September 6, 1960 and our history could not be more similar.

Hi Deb: Unfortunately, I was denied again so my surgery scheduled for the 24th is a no go. I have sent a letter of grievance to my insurance carrier BC/BS of Massachusetts. They denied me because I was two pounds shy of a bmi of 40 on my initial weighing. If my approval is not given with this, I am going to get weighed in and be at 225 so they will approve me. Currently I have lost weight and am at 112. I was so prepared to go on the 24th, but, this speed bump will not discourage me. Being 100 lbs overweight is only temporary now. I can see myself a year from now being just like you. Happy and at peace with myself. Being 53 is going to be the new 43. Say a prayer for me. I will keep you posted!

Hi Deb: I am reaching out with hopes you can calm my jitters. We are almost the exact same age, I am Sept 6, 1960, and weight. How has the experience of having the sleeve been since 2012? Have you adjusted to the new lifestyle? I know that in the short term I will finally lose the weight, but, I am also interested on how you have adjusted the change in your stomach. My surgery hopefully will be the end of March 2014. Any advice and information on what is happening with you would be appreciated. Thanks. BTW- You look amazing. I am hoping that by this time next year, I will be able to say the same about myself.

Deb, I am 64 and have the same approximate weight and goal as you. Would you think a dorm-type pillow would be useful? I am concerned about loose skin, but I'll worry about that later! lol

    You look awesome!!!

Thanks Deb, and I ordered a heat pad, too. Looking at what kind of protein to order, too. Thought a monthly amazon shipment would be good. Good Luck to you, too! Beth.

Hi Deb..thanks for the info, I will look up those foods as I've not heard of them so good to know!, do you mean you were on that two week liquid diet BEFORE surgery? That's a long time! So the gas problems/pain are from having food in your stomach and intestines prior to surgery? I am supposed to be on a 5 day pre op diet, not two week, but maybe I better think about a 2 week pre-op liqid diet then???? Wow, I don't know if I can handle a month without solid food, oh my goodness, I thougght it was 2 weeks post op, will have to go back and check my paperwork again. Thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it! Take Care, Beth.

so, do you have to sip on water all day long? Or do you sip on a thinned out protein drink....what sippy bottles work the best?? I want to purchase some supplies now, in anticpation of my Dec 20 surgery. I bought the box on Amazon of the gas x strips, it was way over 20 bucks! I had a swallowing test recently because I don't want to get the surgery and have troubles, and I passed fine, they said that I need to drink way more straight water right now helps keeping tongue and throat hydrated, and heck, I haven't had any surgery yet!!

About Debcan
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I am new and here to gather information. I am seriously considering weight loss surgery. My family doctor suggested the
gastric sleeve and I haven't heard about it before. I was considering the lap band. I have been on a roller coaster with my weight. I have concluded that I can lose it but can't keep it off. And now that Im older, its getting harder to even lose it. I'm a lifetime member of Weight Watchers since 1991. I love the program but unfortunately once the weight is off my demons return. I'd like to read through the forum for information on people that have had it done and their results.
Thanks :)
