I would absolutely LOVE some samples and I'd be so appreciative. I got a sample of the gladiator powder today at lunch from smoothie king. It's on my list of protein mixes. I got a chocolate. I'll try it tonight or tomorrow. I have my sleep study tonight at the hospital and then I see the nutritionist on the 21st and will be submitted to the insurance the next day, so hoping we can get the green light and maybe do the surgery a little earlier....we'll see. I'll inbox you my phone number. we could meet. I know you said you work close by, but I don't want to put you out.

I also love Atkins Dark chocolate royale...but it's so expensive. My nutritionist gave me a list of protein powders that I can use so I'm going shopping tomorrow to get some varieties.

About raphaelsmuse
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I have been overweight my entire life. I have been actively working on diet and exercise plans for 1/3 of my life, with no sustained success. I am starting to have ailments relating to obesity, and after seeing the illnesses and difficulties that my family has gone through as they're getting older, I wanted to make a stand to change my life and health now, while I can still benefit greatly from it. Unfortunately, I am getting a decent amount of negative feedback from my closest family members - "Are you sure you've tried *everything*? Like actually tried and worked hard at it?". I am hoping that by coming to this website, I can talk to people pre-op and post-op in a supportive and honest fashion, as I continue toward this momentous change.

Got my surgery time, starting the clear liquid pre-op tomorrow!

by raphaelsmuse on 06-24-2013 at 07:02 PM
I got my surgery time this morning! My sleeving is scheduled for this Thursday, and it's at 10 am - so I have to arrive by 8. Which is kind of fantastic - since I will more or less be waking up like I am going to work! Only I will feel much more accomplished and rewarded after it's done.

Starting the clear liquids tomorrow - I've stocked up on some Isopure and Powerade Zero, and have some Crystal Light. We have some broth.

I feel like I'm fortifying a bunker with

Surgery date!

by raphaelsmuse on 05-23-2013 at 09:08 PM
Got my tentative surgery date of June 27th. It works out perfectly for me taking time off from work, and it was pretty much exactly when I was hoping for. But I'm kind of overwhelmed with anxiety...things are really real now... Soooo, we'll see how I handle it as time progresses. I'm seeing my therapist next week, so hopefully I will gain some internal peace.

Financial frustrations

by raphaelsmuse on 04-15-2013 at 10:05 AM
I am probably at least 2 months out from my surgery, and I have been looking into the financial aspect of taking 3 weeks off from work. My employer has a thing called "sick bank," where other employees in my union donate their sick leave to a "leave bank" where people who need it can apply for it. So, I would definitely need that, as I use up all of my leave time going to a bajillion doctors' appointments.

When the donation form came around, I circled 'no', as

A separate blog/journey

by raphaelsmuse on 04-04-2013 at 11:10 AM
I've started up a separate blog on blogger to track my progress for myself, for posterity, and for anyone else who might be thinking about it, out there on the internet.

*jazz hands*

I've decided to do it for a good amount of reasons, but really it's just excessively wordy, like I am, so it's a big much to be here I think. In any case, I have been so encouraged by the support I see on here so far, and it's still just the start of my journey.
