Are you on a laptop with a touch-pad mouse? If you are, you should be able to change your mouse settings. The app screen pops up because the mouse is set to do so with a certain touch pattern. If you push the windows button and start typing control panel, the icon should come up. Click it and go to "hardware and sound" >> view devices >> there should be a mouse icon or listing>> right click>> settings. You should be able to adjust it there. You can send me a personal message if this doesn't work. I'm not on my laptop so I am telling you from memory.

Yes, we must keep in contact at Christmas time!

"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2

Funny about the App screen. When I first converted to W8, I spent half my time trying to get back to where I started. Let me know if it really becomes a problem, I have some tips for you.

She thought she could......so she did!

Lol, I finally got that situated thank God! Thank you very much though...new OS's are always frustrating from, seems like they always try to mask actual improvements with meaningless crap that makes user functionality a bit more difficult than it actually needs to be. I feel like Windows and Mac are in this never ending pissing contest to release the newest ad greatest to try and one up one another, but they always seem to release it before all the proper testing was conducted on it...either that, or maybe I am just stuck in my ways and getting old lol. Thanks a bunch Char!

Welcome back, glad you're back here and all things are up and running.

As for Windows 8... I'm never touching that OS if I don't have to. (says the girl with a computer that runs XP) It's on my mother's laptop but she barely uses it to check her email so there's not much of a reason for me to learn it. My next computer will have 7 on it, aesthetically it works better for me.

I feel ya, I swore I would never work with it either, but the new laptop has to have certain components for it to handle the work load of programs I work with everyday, so I got forced into having to use the 8 OS...I am getting used to it now, I am still not big on the app screen, next to never use it.
