Every doctor is different in what they require. It looks like you are having your procedure with Dr. Almanza in Mexico. There are a lot of members here who have had there sleeve done by Dr. Almanza. I'm sure they will chime in. The idea of the pre-op diet is to reduce the fat in your liver so it will shrink. This gives your surgeon more room to work during surgery. So you will be linited on calories consumed and most likely the type of calories. This is all so you have a safer surgery. So follow your Dr.s orders to a tee. Good Luck!

Like someone said, all doctors are different. I was on protein shakes along with sugar free jello, popsicles, broth, etc. I was not limited, and told if I was hungry to have another protein shake.

I am currently on a two-week pre-op diet, since that is what my particular surgeon requires.

I am allowed two protein shakes per day, one can of soup per day (not cream-based), and two sugar-free snacks per day (sugar-free jello, fat-free yogurt, cottage cheese, sugar-free puddings). I am allowed unlimited calorie-free fluids such as water, coffee, tea, and diet fruit juice.

Approximately two days before the date of the surgery, I am to start a clear-liquid diet.
