Drinking Alcohol after Surgery?

I am not and never was a big drinker but occasionally would have wine or a wine cooler prior to surgery. I'll be two months out exactly on Monday 4-21-14. Is it too soon to have a little wine? What have your doctors told you? I'm in no rush, but just curious.

My doctor said 2 months and even then sparingly. Good luck.

My documents stated six weeks. I did try a sip of red wine - my pre-surgery favourite - and it tasted nasty. I guess that's a good thing... sigh.

No bubbles and be careful, it goes to your head way easier. One gal had a DWI after only 2 drinks I'm told.

Yeah I've heard that after surgery you get intoxicated a little quicker since there is not enough food in the body to absorb the alcohol. Thanks everyone!

I drank a little wine about 2 Months later and not only did it not taste the same but after about 3 sips, I felt it fast. Way too fast. Even a year and 1 Month out one glass and i'm a bit buzzed. Even frozen drinks. I can barely finish an entire one before it even melts.

Yea I went to Tom Thumb today and they were sampling wine and I tried 3 of them in very tiny test cups and felt it. That's crazy!

I (nor my wife) didn't and still don't drink but we have a couple wine bottles in my house that I may want to sip off of in a couple years once I feel its safe.

Luckily I have been a non drinker for a long time so I don't really miss it.

I should probably give my quart of moonshine to a friend so I don't get tempted, lol

Way too soon! Your body is trying to adjust to all the changes - that is a big one. I waited til I was 4 month out - it is a weird feeling cuz you don't know how/what will hit you. i had some vodka and cranberry and I could tell i was singing/laughing louder then anyone there - and 1 glass did me in!!

I'm almost 5 mo. out and I just had my first this past weekend. My daughter made me a "Momgarita" It was frozen and very weak.
When we go to our favorite restaurant I take a bottle of SoBe Lifewater. The bartender shakes it in a shaker and serves it to me in a martini glass AND when it gets low, she just refills it. I sip it really slow, just like a cocktail. Makes me feel really special.

I had my favorite, a pomegranate martini, but could only drink about 3 sips of it. Didn't feel particularly buzzed, just full.

I had two drinks last night at a comedy club. They were peach martinis that went down pretty easily. I got super buzzed and woke up with the worst headache. I think it is too dehydrating for my body.
