Ok, I picked my surgery date so Iwould be home when aunt Florida comes, guess who shows up. My surgery is next week question is can I wear tampons or what will they do?

they will give you disposable panties and a long old fashioned pad to wear. do not wear tampons. let the anesthesiologist and dr know you are on your period. happen to me too...take comfy underwear and pads for the night in the hospital. its EXTREMELY common so don't worry.

Happened to me as well, I was on my last day of it the morning I had surgery. I tool my own pads and such for the night of surgery and boy was surprised when a week after surgery it was back again...

me too, but even though i had sanitary pads the hospital gave me some to use, the doctors are so matter of fact, they don't care at all, they just continue on. just let them know youll be ok.

VERY common, let them know for sure. They have seen it all and heard it all. Nothing like dinner with a group of surgeons, they can keep you in stitches all night...pun intended! : P

I am SO glad for this thread - I looked at my "period calendar" the day after booking and making travel arrangements, only to see that my surgery day should be the first day of mine!

Needless to say, I'm praying it's late... I haven't worn a pad in years and I don't want to now!!

As soon as surgery is done you can put in a tampon, some docs don't mind if you wear it during surgery as long as they know. You will be asleep while wearing the pad so it shouldn't be too bad.
