Default 1 lb lost in 45 minutes...not for the sqeamish...enema talk

OK, so its my 2 week sleeve anniversary. I pooped just one time last week and it wasn't all that much. I have been wanting to poop for a few days now and it just wasn't happening. I took a laxative last night hoping that would help. This morning I knew I had to do the inevitable: buy an enema...ick! It worked, but for 45 minutes I felt like I was trying to give birth. My poop was SO HARD. (and yes, it was a full pound...I weighed myself before and after!)

So, my question is: will this happen again? Can I make changes in my diet to help? Is it due to all the protein and not much fiber in my diet? I REAAAAAAAALLLLY don't want to go thru that again! lol Sorry for the graphic nature...

I take milk of magnesia twice a week before bed. I'm 7 months out and still have issues if I don't do it so now I take it religiously, whether I think I need it or not! Work with the dosage, 2 Tbs was not enough and 4 Tbs gave me diarrhea, 3 Tbs works perfect for me, every Sunday and Wednesday night. In the morning it all comes out, easily!

If it was hard, you should increase your fluids. How much are you drinking daily?

It was like that for me too, and 8 months out it has almost gotten to be normal. The first few weeks are really difficult for some people (like me) and laxatives didn't quite work. From what I understand, even if you are doing everything right, some bodies just act that way.

For me about 8 weeks out it got tolerable, where I was having 2-3 movements a week. For someone who easily had 1 movement a day before and not difficult or painful, the change was the biggest thing. There are things you can do to your diet, fluids is a good start, but talk to your doctor and don't "freak out" about it, because it happens to a lot of us. Now I am every other day or every day and the stools have gotten back to a more normal softness, but that really only has been the past few weeks, so that was 7 months of challenge for me.
