    Default Is corn a no-no?

I'm seven weeks post op and have had only a few problems. Eating is no longer the pleasure it once was, but I'm not hungry (except with my eyes) so I'm doing okay. Today I had a soft tuna salad that had corn kernels and chopped hard boiled egg in it. I'lve had tun often, with no problem. Well, today I got that old familiar rock in my stomach pain going all the way up to my throat. About 15 minutes after I ate, it kept getting worse and worse, and finally I vomited. That's only the 3rd time that's happened since surgery. It wasn't from overeating. Is corn a no-no??

I was told corn is a pretty big no-no FOREVER after surgery, though I am sure some people do eat it after their pouches have fully healed. My nut told me because it is very hard to digest and high in sugar and low in nutritional value, I should skip it and go with better-for-me and easier to eat veggies. I am avoiding it as a personal choice because of her advice.

I ate corn in small amounts starting when I had all food restrictions lifted at 8 weeks post-op, which surprised my nutritionist because she said most post-ops couldn't handle it very well (I was never told I could never eat corn ever again). That being said, she advised against eating much of it, if at all, due to the high sugar content of fresh corn, and she was also adamant that popcorn was not my friend as well. If the corn bothered your stomach, I advise staying away for a few months and then revisiting it if you want and if it's OK with your doctor/nutritionist.

Thanks everyone. I'm definitely staying away from corn, at least for a few months!

So egg-drop soup has corn in it...and that was one of the first foods I could eat. I've had corn sparingly in various dishes and it hasn't bothered me none.
