    Unhappy Having a hard time...

Hi I'm new to the sleeve site, I just had my surgery on Wednesday the 12 and I'm really having a hard time. I can't seem to get any liquids down and the gas pains are torture. I am afraid I will get dehydrated. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really scared.

Sorry you are having a hard time. The first few days the only thing I want was crushed ice and swallowed little bit of water is it melted in my mouth. I think the very cold helped reduce the swelling of the stomach. Popsicles would do the same thing. The first few days you wont be able to get a lot down but try to get a little more each day. As the swelling goes down it should get easier. Hope you feel better soon. Praying for your speedy recovery.

Are you walking around, that is important to help eliminate gas. You can't take in much more than broth, water, ice chips or popsicles at this point. Gatorade is something to sip on too to keep your electrolytes up. If things really start to make you worry call your surgeon's office.

you literally cannot get ANY liquids down??? then call the dr immediately.. if you are able to get some down then get Smart Water and pedialite and drink what you can. your probably swollen and such.. try to just sleep and walk and sleep and walk.. walking and gasx is all you can do for the gas. it should lighten.up little by little daily.. its a rough few days but you wont get dehydrated too fast since they pumped you full of fluids after surgery..

HI! Welcome to the site! I had a hard time myself so I just stood up and walked while sipping.. just try to sip your liquids in and then walk a little bit.. I was sleeved on Monday and the first two days I think it was harder due to the recent surgery.. keep going, and if not and in pain, I totally agree with the others, call your doctor!

I had mine on Monday the 10th. Take your pain meds. They help. I was good yesterday but I woke up super sore and gasy this morning. Small slow sips spaced out with two minutes in between seems to help. It will get easier each day.
