I had surgery on 8/25/12 and I am almost down 100 pounds. But have experinced lots of shedding! Can anyone tell me things they have tried or better yet when it will get better. I am taking Biotin 2 x day.
Make sure you are getting enough protein, for me Biotin twice a day wasn't enough given my workouts so I now get 100 grams per day and have significantly reduced shedding. My surgery was August 8, 2012. You have both lost a whole lot more weight than me so far so the rate of loss in weight can also cause more hair loss as I understand it. I certainly would trade a little more hair for more loss at the scale but then I had very thick hair to start with. Congrats on your progress so far, very impressive!
I'm almost 8 months out and had REALLY bad hair loss up until month 6 or so, don't get discouraged - this will end! I was taking 2 Biotin each day just like you are and I actually switched to Garnier Fructis "Fall Fight" shampoo and conditioner. I really do think that helped at least to some degree, a lot of my problem was my long curly hair tangles so easily that when i brushed it out it pulled out even more than was coming out because of the surgery and that shampoo/conditioner made my hair silky and brushed much more easily. Keep up the great work and just be as gentle with your hair as you can
Hi! I was sleeved on August 10, 2012. About two months ago my hair started shedding like a cat in the Springtime! It kept falling out like crazy until this week. Now, it is back to my natural shedding routine. Not enough to mention. For some crazy reason, I keep forgetting to take the biotin. I did get my hair cut shorter than the one in my profile photo last week. It made my now thin hair look fuller and fluffier. My stylist verified what I am seeing, too. My scalp is full of brand new little hairs! They are about 3/8 inch long. He says I will be fine.
I have yet to see a bald woman in a one year after photo. Have you?! This too shall pass.
Congrats! Congrats on your AWESOME weight loss!
My surgeon said that if I start losing my hair, that I needed to add zinc into my vitamins. I would think that taking a good multi vitamin, getting good nutrition, and adding biotin and zinc would be more than enough. Just a thought.
Every night before going to sleep, carefully comb the hair with a hair, comb from the forehead back, to comb the scalp that has been a slight fever so far. This can promote blood circulation at the skin, the hair to get more nutrients, but can also comb dandruff out.
