    Default Proud yet concerned!

Hey everyone! I had my sleeve on 12-10-12 and everything is going great! I've just been cleared to exercise and I'm wondering how much weight you all lost per week? Since my pre op diet I've lost 33-34 pounds! I'm proud but I'm wondering if I'm not losing enough? I'm also off of my blood pressure meds and migraine meds! I'd appreciate everyone's input!

I had my surgery a month before you and I have lost 38 pounds. Everyone is different but you seem to be doing fine. The weight loss does slow down little by little as you get closer to an ideal weight but if you increase the calories burned to can keep it going. Good luck.

Highest weight 440 lbs. lowest weight 9.5 lbs at birth
    Date of surgery weight 340
    12 week checkup 301 BMI <50 yeah!
Weight on birthday 3/24/48 Goal 285 would be nice.

Comparing your loss to everyone else's can be counter-productive. I think, and it's easier for me to stay since I'm so far post-op, that it' all the NSV's that you'll experience that will make this journey awesome. The weight will come off as long as you're following the program. Continued success, and you're doing great so far!

yes you cannot compare.. i started at 205 and three months later ive lost 30. but i lost 20 in month one and 10 in month two. I go up several pounds and then back down all the time..I know another lady that started same weight as me and she freaking lost 38 on the first month.. I compared myself to her and it was awful mentally.. just do yourself a favor and keep your own pace. A good rule is we usually lose on average ten a month. Some months you may not lose any and others more.. but say by month 6 you should be close to 60 gone.. now larger people lose a lot more for sure in the first few months. remember this is a rollercoaster and not a downhill sleighride. There will be days you see the scale go up maybe even by five pounds.. dont worry it goes back down. This loss takes a long time.. look forward to a year or so of rollercoasting.. make sure to get minimum 80 grams protein per day.. and 80 oz of water.. more is better but this is my minimums.. expect short and long stalls starting around month 2... i started power walking by week three.. thats when the loss slowed for me.. but the inches have come off and I look really toned already.. I really am soooo happy I did this.. and I did not tell anyone. so they all think its all the working out and protein shakes I am consuming.. which it is.. but I had a little help too.. lol.. girls I know are now trying to go out and buy my protein shake!! LMAO!!! my little secret..

There are so many factors that have to be considered that it would be impossible to empirically say one person is losing this per week so you should lose this much. Focus on getting your nutrition, water and activity and let the weight fall off as it will. If you are going to lift weights be sure to record your measurements so that when the scale is not moving you can be sure the fat is still coming off.

Total inches lost to date 38.6 inches 98.0 cm
    Highest weight 325
    1st Goal - below 300 (12/12/30) 9 days after surgery'
    2nd Goal - 265 weight I met my wife (13/2/23)
    3rd Goal - 250 lowest weight in my 30's (15/4/2013)
4th Goal - 215 lowest weight as an adult ()
    5th Goal - below 200 ()

My weight loss has slowed down; but I'm still going down and that's what counts. I've incorporated weight training into my workouts as well as hiring a personal trainer. I didn't gain all this weight overnight so therefore I can't expect to lose it overnight. This is a journey and I will give it my all.
