    Default Question about stalls

So how often do they happen thru this journey? I experienced on at the typical 4 weeks out or so, I might be in another one, is that possible? Do they happen that often. Can you just share your experiences on stalls and how often they come so I might be better prepared.

Not stressing by any means, more curious than anything.

    Thanks

I seem to have them every 25 lbs or so. None have been as long as the first one- 10 days- 1 week after surgery.

I have one once a month that lasts for a week. I think it's my body's way of readjusting all the fat cells remaining so I stay in porportion. lol

I also know that I will stall for a few days (outside of my monthly 1-week stall) if I get low on my fluids. It's my kick-in-the-pants to drink more tea. I find that because I take in relatively little nutrients (compared to a normal person), any slight change in fluids or food, my body reacts very quickly and reminds me of that.

I had a 2 month stall that started in November. I can attribute it to changing my dieting habits. The moment I went back to the way I began, the weight started falling off again.

I seem to lose in "steps" about once per month and my dietician said that is just how some people lose. I would of course like to lose at least a little each week but that hasn't happened since the first month or so. So I haven't had a stall since week two I guess.

Thanks all, I think I am a little nervous as I've been told and read on here that the first 6 months is the best losing period, just don't want to spend most of these 6 months in a stall!

I don't use the term "stall" to be honest. But I will say the longest time period I have gone without losing a pound is 10 days.

Weight last appointment prior to surgery: 265 (6/29/12)

    100 pounds lost 7/3/13

Good point. They say a true stall is 4 weeks or longer. I call it a "rest period." Still is frustrating though!

It depends what you call a stall.
Some people call it a stall if they don't lose a pound every day. Some call it a stall if they go two days, or three days, without dropping a pound. And they have a meltdown.
My typical pattern is three weeks hovering around the same weight (fluctuating up & down a few pounds), then I will drop 3 or 4 pounds in the space of one week. This gives me an average loss of 1 lb per week, or slightly less (3 lbs per month) which is FINE with me.
    Day of surgery: 248 lbs

Since a week before my surgery I began taking and recording my measurements and even during my most recent stall on the scale I was shrinking and that helped me get through it. Muscle is much more dense than fat.

I have all but eliminated carbs from my diet. Quest bars are also my life saver food. I will eat two, and sometimes even three quest bars during my work hours (8-5) and then we will eat a healthy low carb dinner. I snack on cheese, cottage cheese, and sometimes dill pickles. On the weekends, instead of quest bars we will make breakfast which always includes bacon and eggs. I make a lot of omelets on the weekend. The breakfast is usually a "brunch" so to speak, and then we have a healthy dinner. I drink A LOT of water. I actually had a sierra springs water cooler put in my office at work. I'm having hell keeping everyone else away from it though. We used to eat out for EVERY meal. I checked my bank statement last month and in the whole month there was only ONE restaurant charge on it. The amount of money we are saving on food is unbelievable. We can literally pay another car payment with it.

And I don't exercise. I never can get on that wagon. IMO a diet is 95% nutrition, and 5% exercise. You can either run on the treadmill for an hour, or not drink a coke. To me that's just stupid simple math.
