    Default I blew it :(

I am 3-1/2 weeks post op and I had part of a bean and cheese burrito. Not a whole lot. About 1/4 of it. I've done well with my food until tonight. I swear it was calling my name. I wanted something that tasted "normal". I'm totally crushed that I gave in. I wish it had made me physically ill. Anybody else out there experienced this? What did you do about it?

I ate an itsy bitsy piece of chocolate not long after my sleeve and did I pay for it. My stomach hurt so bad for hours after I went to bed. Needless to say, I'm very careful about what I eat, but still learning. What I couldn't tolerate two months ago, I can now eat; it's just a gamble when trying new things I think. I'm five months out and have lost almost 80 pounds so I'm very pleased with my results. And don't beat yourself up for eating something "you" think you shouldn't, just learn and move forward. Good luck to you in your journey. Connie

At your stage of the game, depending on what your program calls for, it should be ok. I was on soft foods 3 1/2 weeks out and the beans and cheese were staples. Just leave out the tortilla and take it nice and slow

Be kind to yourself. Can you imagine how you'd talk to a friend in this situation. It's one tiny glitch as you head into the rest of your life. Let it go. Do the right thing and move on!

Why can't you eat "normal" food in moderation? I am trying to navigate the protein first,,then veggies,,then if room carbs. route. But I also know I want to be open to eating things like what you are talking about now and then.
If you put yourself in a box of rules you will end up very depressed.

I did something pretty bad last night myself. After eating all my protein for the day I had a 100 calorie blueberry muffin. I drank milk while eating it so that it would qualify as a pureed or soft food. That was bad enough but then I ate one of those tiny snack pieces of Twix candy bar. It pretty much melted in my mouth. I am asking myself, am I doomed for failure or was this just a trip up? Today I have vowed to do better. Don't feel bad as others are going through the same things you are. We will make it.

Beans and cheese aren't a bad choice. Next time just omit the tortilla, and you'll be fine. We have to learn that being healthy is all about balance. It's almost impossible to eat healthy 100% of the time. You can eat foods you enjoy sometimes, just balance it out. Last week I really wanted some baked apples and cinnamon. I had a few bites, but then did 10 extra minutes on the elliptical to account for it. My nutritionist calls it a "trade off". It's a very effective way to enjoy food without sabotaging our weight loss.

If you deny yourself you will get frustrated and depressed. Next time cut out the tortilla. Today is a new day. Walk a little further than you normally do. Exercise it out. Good luck to you.

Don't fall into the same trap that we always do, which is make a bad/questionable food choice, agonize over it and then feel like a failure. This behavior is part of our problem. You're only doomed if you believe you are. We believe in you

    Oh Good Lord People......

    Take a look at this

    Sleeve Date

    9/14

    10/14

So, you have two folks who don't even know the basic rudimentary path of post op life giving advice. You have two that haven't even logged 60 days, and two that are under 90 days giving advice. The one sleeved in May is on the border of knowing enough to give advice and the advice she gave appears to be heading in the right direction. The best advice amongst the group? Terrora. She's an ultra newbie, but, she's been on here reading and asking questions for months and months. It appears as though she listened and learned.

I left Seth out because Seth has logged the miles and knows what works for him. He's reached Rock Star status in my book.

The rest of this post is for cnjzmom. Read on if you would like.

CNJ, please go to my profile page and click on the link that takes you to my posts. I have 24 or 25 pages of my opinions on what does and doesn't work post op. My way is not the only way. It's only the way that worked for me. I will say though, lots and lots of other sleevers on here have tried my methods and have lost all of their weight. In fact, I have gotten two pm's from vets on here this week and both have been so nice in their credits. They claim to have achieved their goal weight and maintenance while working my plan to a tee. I am so incredibly humbled when some one takes the time to write to me. Compound that with personal notes that say they couldn't have done it without my advice and that I helped changed their life, well, let's just say I am moved. I always write back and remind them that they actually did it. I gave them ideas, but they had to implement the ideas and work it. So, it's not to my credit that they succeeded. It's 100% on them.

    They made a plan
    They worked the plan
    They owned the results
    And, they changed as necessary

So, I implore you to go and read up. Also, visit the profiles of Seth, Marvinator, Little Verbena, and my main girl, Truffles. All of these folks know the drill and all of them lost their weight doing something completely different than me. So, you see, there really are many, many ways to lose weight with the sleeve. But, universal amongst all of us is this one over riding sentiment. You must never over eat.

So, I'm going to tell you something that will rock your world. You can eat what ever you want, when ever you want, prepared just the way you like it and lose all of the weight you want to. All you have to do is exercise some self control and don't over eat. Invest in what feeling full feels like to you. I know that sounds ridiculous, but, it isn't. Each of us has a different trigger that alerts us that we are full even though we may feel like we are. Many claim to get a runny nose once they are full. That happens to me on occasion. Mine is the kerplop. I'll explain later if you are interested.

In conclusion, don't listen to those who are newly sleeved. For the most part, they are repeating things they have read or heard and really have no idea whether or not they are helping. Take your advice from someone who has logged at least 365 days with the sleeve. Their advice will be good if they have succeeded or are having prolonged success with the sleeve.
