Hello,
I am wondering how many of us had their gallbladder out after surgery. I am doing cleanses like crazy before my surgery in 4 weeks,
I need help in knowing what others have chosen to do.
Elliebabe - I had my gallbladder taken out at the same time I had my sleeve. As one of the pre-op requirements I had to get an ultrasound done to check for gallstones.....and I had ALOT of them. I spoke with my surgeon about it and asked if he could remove it while he was in there and he agreed to try if all went well with the sleeve and my insurance company approved. My insurance company approved the removal and he was able to take it out while I was in surgery. Afterward he noted that I had some of the largest gallstones he had ever seen and was shocked that I had no symptoms or attacks.
My Surgeon elected to remove my gallbladder at the time of my VSG. He said that Gallbladders tend to become problematic after surgery.

I had to have mine out several months after my VSG. I had never had symptoms before, but once they started it wasn't fun. I ended up with over a hundred gallstones when it was finally removed. Having it removed during the VSG wasn't even mentioned to me, so I was unaware it was an option until recently.
