Also..back to work!! I weighed and measured today. I have to say I was a little disappointed -18 lbs and 6.25". It seems from reading other posts that everyone else is losing about a pound a day. I have been getting my protein and exercising daily. I hope going back to work - adding Spark People to keep up with protein/cals plus being back with my walking partner will help. Trying to not be discouraged and/or compare myself to others...but it's hard with all the forums and sites out there!!

You are doing good ! I went to doc at 2 months and had only lost 19 pds he is concerned so he will take a scope in Sept. to see whats going on because I still feel hungry and do not get full. ANd just remember we did not put this weight on overnite So best of luck to you. I do see all those people on here losing so good and fast its crazy how it works.

Hi, i am exeriencing the same slower weight loss and only this last week did i have some loss. We can do this. Many other members posted a slow loss and we r all different. K up the hope. I went to the gym today for the first time in 4 yrs. Started my yoga practice again and yes WE CAN DO THIS

Hey Everyone,
I have recently been really discouraged i am three weeks out and still have only lost 6 pounds. I may have a possible hernia or seroma and am having that checked out on Thursday, but can someone please tell me what more i can do to get back on track.

Annaliisa, you ARE on track!! Two pounds per week is a good weight loss. Just be sure you are getting plenty of protein, drinking lots of water, and getting in your exercise. I was told by one doctor that gastric sleeve patients can expect to lose 60% of their excess weight by 18 months. You have only been at it 3 weeks! Please don't be so hard on yourself! You are doing great!

In the 2nd month I only lost 5 lbs and then went down another 5 lbs in the 1st week of 4th month. The body really needs those plateaus to redistribute after losing the weight. Almost everyone complains about not losing fast enough, including myself. The way I look at it is I'm losing weight (even if slow) and not gaining, what a wonderful feeling. Clothes are all hanging on me, need to start buying new ones. Really hard not to compare ourselves with all the others, but our bodies are all so very different, can't compare.

I agree with everyone else. You're not gaining - you are losing. If you knew you'd lose 180 lbs. in 10 months would you be OK with that? I don't know how much you want to lose, but keep up what you are doing and you'll reach your goal.

I am almost 3 weeks out......I am 38 pounds down since the pre-op....., 18 since the surgery..........had severe shoulder pain for over a week...so the exercise hasn't been happening. Heading back to work next week. I haven't hit a stall yet and do very much dread it.......so I can understand where you all are coming from............but we did not gain all that weight in a short time......so I keep telling myself one day at a time. Keep up the good work everyone....I love this forum and getting support from others !

And remember to look at weight loss in percent! If someone started out at 400 pounds and loses 40 the first month, you cant compare that 40 pounds directly to someone who started at 200 pounds. But it makes sense in percents - the 400 pound person lost 10% of their body weight the first month, so a 200 pound person who loses "only" 20 pounds that first month did JUST AS GOOD! So dont get discouraged by the numbers other people post! look at their starting weights, find people who are similar to yours if you want a more accurate idea of what you can expect/hope for. Add in the different diets and exercise levels and those will vary too. Hard to think about when you are in a plateau, but a few months from now you will look back and realize you were right on track.
