    Default sensitive tummy issues

Hi I'm 3 mos post op and struggling. My tummy always feels jittery every morning and nothing tastes good. Everything gives me heartburn, sometimes even water. By the time my tummy settles down its later in the day and then I struggle getting in all my protein. I'm only getting 600 calories a day and my Dr says I should be at 800-1000. Does anybody else have these issues? Any suggestions on Dealing with this? Does it settle down in a few more months? Help!!

Have you tried GNC's wheybolic protein or AMP Performance mix? I find that if you use an ounce or two less water than suggested and an extra scoop, you increase the protein to 75 grams (!) and the caloric content as well

You should check with your doctor about your heartburn maybe he can give you meds for it.

I am also having the same problems as you are but I am barely 6 weeks post-op. I have heartburn all the time even if all I have had is water. I am having a very hard time eating solid foods at all and mostly just drink water because it's the only thing that doesn't make me nauseous or make my stomach hurt. I take 2 antiacids a day, one in the morning and one at night and they help but don't last long enough. I belch really bad after every bite or drink I take and it's aweful and embarassing! I am hoping and praying that my stomach will be able to eat more in a couple months and the constant heartburn will go away!

As I understand it antacids neutralise stomach acidity but they don't reduce it forming.

A lot of people on here are put on PPIs (proton-pump inhibitor) which reduces the amount of stomach acid being produced. I was on Lanzoprazole for about 5 months and it worked a charm, and then I didn't need it any more.

If you're not on a PPI, ask your PCP or surgeon if you can be prescribed it. Good luck!

Warm is often more soothing than cold, even tho with heartburn you want the cold. Try a herbal tea with ginger in it. Ginger has stomach soothing properties.

I would take a prescription antacid either before bed or first thing in the morning. You might have too much acid activity in there. I would try at night before bed first.
