Default Full Liquid Stage and Feeling Hungry....HELP

I am 7 days post-op and I am following the full liquid diet religiously with my calories remaining under 600calories. I had anticipated having no hunger but that is not the case. I don't feel like I'm starving by any means but I still feel hungry. Please tell me this gets better in time?!

    Hi Heather

I'm still doing liquids like you but with yogurt and applesauce added when I can tolerate it. I found the yogurt helps quell the hunger and the protein shakes also help. Sorry I can't add much more than that. My nutritionist told me to eat yogurt when I complained of the same thing and it did help.

Hungry or habit? By that I mean are you missing the chewing sensation and the feeling of fullness - even though you're not actually hungry?
Must be a very weird feeling and I guess the only things likely to help are yoghurt and shakes/smoothies-basically upping the protein where you can.
Hope you're feeling on top of it soon.

Are you getting adequate amounts of protein? If no...you need to try really hard to get those grams. If yes, add 10 more grams a day and see if that helps. And like TrueBody mentioned, is it true hunger or "mental hunger?" Is your stomach actually "growling"? It could be gas, the new sensation of foods moving through the sleeve (which is a different feeling than we're used to)? Best wishes to you...

You can try adding the unflavored protien to your soup broth or jello. Adding protien will help you feel full longer.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. My stomach has been grumbling but I suppose there could also be some mental adjustments going on.

I agree with the others! My non-sleeved opinion would be to increase your protein and stay active! And be shre to sip a lot of water. Good luck!
