I was back at work in ten days. I am a groomer at a vet clinic. Single mom, so had no choice. LOL I did ok, a little tired, but the girls that worked with me, bathed the dogs, and carried them for me, since I couldn't lift more than ten pounds. I am three weeks out, and seem to be doing great! I have lost about 25 pounds so far. I am loving my sleeve!!!!
Tricky question, that depends on how you earn your money. As a librarian you most likely lift alot of books with overhead reaching, the last thing you want is more surgery, so get a helper or a least limit yourself. I build jet engines, so I will be off work for 4 weeks, and have 15lbs. lifting restriction for 4 weeks after I do return to work, I work 12 hour shifts, so I will be taking my time. I will also have a new employee asigned to me to do all the physical stuff, I might get use to this. LOL
I just finished my surgery on the 22nd and am home recuperating. Thank God it is summer, so I am off. I sort of planned that. I won't have to go back until August 4th when I give a workshop, so that is about 6 weeks from surgery. Thank you for all of your replies and you are all my heroes with this surgery. Your replies have spurred me on with my resolution for a life change with the sleeve. I got on the scale this evening and already 2 lbs from yesterday with a total of 14 lbs lost from pre-op diet till now.
I had my surgery on Wednesday, went home Friday and worked on Sunday (I work from home) ... it depends on what you do, as most people have said ... and on your own body.
You really can't lift more than 20 pounds for at least 6 weeks post op ... or you run the risk of tearing your new tummy ... If you can sit at a desk and have library helpers do all the heavy lifting, I would say you would be good to go back as soon as your body tells you it's ok. But don't push it ... as soon as your body says "ENOUGH!" then you need to listen, stop what you are doing and rest ... exhausting yourself is just as bad as over-exerting.
Best of luck!
