    Default How Much Weight???

    I was wondering from people that has had sleeve atleast a year out how much weight is to be expected to lose in the first year!?

    I'm not a year out yet, but I can tell you that on average it is somewhere around 100-120lbs depending on how much you have to lose, how often and hard you workout, the type of foods you're eating, etc. Obviously if you don't have that much to lose, it will be less. People who have a good amount more than 100lbs will lose more in that first year. I believe for the people who weigh in the 200-300lb range, it is about 10lbs a month on average and for 300+ lbs it is usually in the 15-20lbs a month range. Now remember, these are just averages. I personally am averaging about 13lbs a month since surgery as of right now, but I have only lost 4lbs so far this month. Hope this helps

    just based on posts from people that are at a year, i'd say its around a hundred pounds average. I sure hope I lose a hundred by next september...i'd be sooooo happy

    my first goal is to get to 141pounds, that will put me in the NORMAL range bmi. My second goal is 120, which is thin and healthy.

    My daughter went from 300 to 180 in the first year but 25 was before surgery. Weight has remained around that ever since.Never made it all the way to her goal of 170. The doctor said 140 but she felt she would be to skinny at 140.

    For me, I lost most of my excess weight in the first six months. I am short so I don't have 100lbs to lose.

    Your age, gender, height, exercise or not exercise, eat right or not eat right, your own metabolism will all affect your progress. Oh, and your sleeve size too can affect it. Some people naturally have a longer stomach so their sleeve is a bit bigger and can eat more.

    Once I am close to healthy BMI weight, the weightloss is very very slow I have to eat right (low carb) and exercise. LIke a regular diet of exercise problem with sleeve as an aid.
    (Goal!!! Maintenance Lane!)


    • Reduce calories intake for weightloss.
    • Exercise for heart health, mental health and weight maintenance.
    • Make realistic goals.
    • Never give up.
