Default Experienced sleevers, stomach flu help

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get over the stomach flu?

I got it last week, was in bed Saturday and Sunday, vomiting and diarrhea. Felt a little better for the rest of the week, just had no appetite and if I did force myself to eat it would trigger the diarrhea again. Got home from work last night and it started all over again, worse then it ever was.

I'm trying to keep hydrated so I don't have to go to the hospital, so I'm drinking G2. Problem is I take one sip and instantly it seems to hit my stomach and triggers diarrhea and vomiting. I am dehydrated, lips and mouth dry, skin papery and doesn't spring back like it should, but I live in a small town and going to the hospital would be hours while they call a dr in, etc. Honestly I feel to sick to go to the hospital :lol

I'm trying to keep down gravol (Dramamine) and immodium with limited success, but it's not stopping the fluid loss. I feel like I've been beaten with a stick, every muscle hurts and I'm getting Charlie horses in my legs. This just seems so much more intense and long lasting then prior to the surgery? It's almost like I can feel the outline of my stomach in there and it feels like it's burning.

I'm 6.5 months out, and doing well with the exception of this. Anyone have any advice on how to keep hydrated and get past this thing?

    Thanks for letting me whine.

Hit 2nd goal of 145 at 12 months. Room for 1 more goal, I want to be less then half the person I used to be which means 139

I would go to the hospital. You are already dehydrated. So what it it takes a long time...you can't do anything else anyway, except wait. You can get worse for and you can prevent it. I hope you feel better quickly, but get up and go to the hospital.

I will if I can't get the diarrhea to slow down soon. Just the thought of sitting there in the er while puking etc, makes me feel worse then I already do.

if you're puking and dehydrated they will get you in right away, and get an iv started... they will give you anti nausea meds in the iv so you will stop puking.

They did this for me just a few weeks ago.... all of this occurred before the DR even saw me.

I would check with the dr. I normally don't eat any rice for the reasons we all know, but I had some when I needed something that would be "binding." I did what I would have done without the sleeve in much smaller doses. Avoid caffene since it is counterproductive to hydration. Juices help.

    hope you feel better

Thanks for posting this, I think I'm in the beginning stages of a stomach flu. I slept all day yesterday and the only thing I can keep down are whole wheat Ritz crackers and small amounts of g2.

Until you can get to the doc, or decide to..... do you have any ginger in the house? If so, make some plain decaf tea, weak and add a 1/2 tsp of ginger to it. You can add dry creamer but not milk. Sip it slooowly over 1/2 hr. Ginger works better than dramamine, and actually kills germs that cause diarrhea... if you don't have any ginger and you do have some pepto bismol, that kills bad stomach germs as well and will help bind you. Once you can keep something down, you can work on some enzymes or probiotics to get good bacteria back into your poor tummy.
I've found when I've had the stomach flu in the past that drastic changes in temp in my stomach make it worse, so whatever you do drink, make it room temp or body temp, not more than 100 or less than say 75 degrees. Less chance of spasms.
I know you must know those leg cramps are because you are low on potassium. Any chance you can get some mashed banana down? It's not a perfect solution but better than nothing...OH, and if I were you, I'd use regular gatorade/powerade instead of sugar free. SF sweeteners are rough on the tummy. It's not forever and you need to feel better!
