wrenching pain coming from stomach

I thought this would go away but it hasnt. When i drink anything i get this wrenching painfull feeling from my stomach. Anyone have an idea. I think im taking sips i use a teaspoon or is that even too much.

I had the hardest time with liquids at first but It does get better. I wish I had an answer for you but just keep trying. I had to drink my water extremely cold and that was so different from others on here.

Try drinking something else besides water. I still have trouble with water, and like BigChicken said...drink it cold. It will help with the swelling too. Try grape juice that is all I could drink at first, and just be careful not to get dehydrated. That happened to me first thing, and I had to get hooked back up to the IV. It was that I could not keep the water down. Take care, and keep us posted!

I had a cramping pain from my stomach days after my surgery...made me nauseous. Come to find out, it was gas! All the walking in the world didn't help...I guess my new tummy had to learn how to expel it. When I took Gas-x strips it subsided for an hour or two then it started again (that's how I put two and two together and figured out it was gas) So gas-x strips worked for me, also heard fennel tea works good if you think that might be worth a try. It went away about day 7 or so. Hope you feel better...Daniel

Feel better! I have the same issue, today is post op day 7, wasn't so bad today with the stomach pains. I'm going to try warm tea, and also really cold water, have been doing room temp. The ice pops also good. I have been burping like a sailor too! That damn gas...gas x strips will be purchased! Good luck, we can do this!

Just do the best you can, Jester. Try popsicles if nothing else works, don't force it. Ask what they give you for pain, when they took me off the morphine they gave me tiny amounts of Vicodin and it wasn't enough. When I came home I took what I considered "the proper dose" i.e. added a dose at noon so it wasn't so long between*, and slept. The next day I was basically up and at 'em.

*trying to stay on TOP of the pain rather than waiting for it to show up.

try sucking ice chips. or different temp liquids. chicken broth went down much better than water for me at first. I promise the pain subsides soon! you'll feel so good a week from now you'll be worrying that the surgeon didn't do anything to your tummy!

If it's not gas, it could be spasms. Remember, your stomach just underwent major trauma and is reacting to you wanting to use it. Things will get better.

(Imagine having cramps every month. It's not fun.

I got a real discomfort feeling a few seconds after I took a drink(sip), I'm thinking it's when it hits our "new" stomach. I haven't had it for the past couple of days and I'm on day seven. It'll get better! If it doesn't go to your doctor.

I don't remember having stomach pain at all. I had discomfort and I had very loose stools for the first couple weeks (TMI, I know), but no real pain other than the gas. ..that being said, it could be gas. One thing that really helped me at the beginning was drinking herbal tea. Warm liquids went down soooo much better than cold. If you are still in pain tomorrow, I would talk to your Dr.
