HCG Post Sleeve Anyone??

A friend of mine is trying to talk me into doing the HCG shots as she has lost 24lbs in 4 weeks. Has anyone out there done this post sleeve? She feels that I should be losing much more weight with the small amount of calories I eat daily and said the HCG shots will make that happen and get me a pound a day for 40 days. I've done some research and there is good and bad out there... I am looking for some real life experience with it, preferably someone who did it post sleeve. I saw here today and she looks great! My weight loss has slowed. Since January 1st, I have only lost 10 lbs . Was hoping for a faster rate of loss. Anyway... HCG experiences ?? I want to hear about them.

Yea I would talk to your DR about that but personally I dont think it is as much the HGC that people are taking that makes them lose weight as it is the 500 calorie diet your on while doing it. They don't know the long term effects that stuff has so I would be leery of trying it myself.I know this for sure if you just keep on doing what your supposed to do with the sleeve around 800 calories a day under 50 carbs exercise you will lose weight. I know it gets frustrating when you stall but dont get discouraged enough to try something without consulting your WLS Dr first please.

I agree with buddy, my sister did that diet and while it did help curve her appetite she was only allowed 500-800 calories and i think that's what caused the weight loss! Just start counting your calories and continue with the plan your stall will end.

And you look great and what you have lost so far is fine your friend doesn't know what she is talking about. you have lost 53 lbs in 74 days that is totally awesome...

HCG was one of the diets I tried before the sleeve. I would caution you. I was very successful on it. I did the prescription injections daily. However, as soon as I stopped the injection, the weight came back in a few days plus some. It messes with your hormones, you're actually injecting yoruself with preganancy hormones that have been distilled from a pregnant woman's urine. It works like a dream but I have PCOS so as soon as the injections stopped, my body blew up. It's hard to predict how you will react to the shots after getting sleeved.

Take an additional 5000 IU of D3 daily and take 25mg of DHEA within a half hour of getting up. DHEA stimulates muscle growth. It also has the added benefit of increasing libido. Taking 2800 grams of fish oil (I keep mine in the fridge to keep them fresh and keep them from giving me fish burp breath) per day will help with fat burning, as will taking Tonalin CLA gel caps 2x a day. I cannot stress enough the need to get in 70-90 grams of high quality protein a day, preferably in the form of liquid to keep the fat and calories down.

The last time there was a big HCG fad was in the mid-late 70s. The 500 calorie diet and the absence of fat (people were not to even use lotions on their body) in the diet ensured that people lost weight, but it was at the expense of their hair, skin, nails, and muscle mass. Every person I ever knew who did the shots and diet gained the weight back very quickly once they stopped the regimen.

If you supplement protein and eat what most bariatric weight loss clinics tell you to do, you will be essentially doing a Protein Sparing Modified Fast, which if your supplements consist of high quality protein, take your vitamin/mineral supplements as directed, and stay within the food type/volume limits at your particular stage, is safe, fast, and effective.

I did HCG and its a total rip off. I had 500 calories per day and shots and lost 36lbs in 28 days. Then I did another 30 days without the shots just the menu and lost 30lbs. Most wl centers sale fake HCG. You never know what you're getting injected. Be careful. I lost weight with it but was literally starving myself. My electrolytes were all out of wack. The dr. Told me I was in starvation mode.

I would seriously consider NOT doing it. I tried it 2 years ago and ended up with a blood clot in my leg and a pulmonary emoboli in my lungs! I spent a week in the hospital and had to take coumadin for 6 months afterward and my leg still has a tendancy to swell. It was definately NOT worth it for me. I did research before I tried the HCG and saw nothing about blood clots, pulmonary emboli or life threatening events associated with the shots. But it's not as safe as they would have you believe. However, I have a friend who has done it and has lost about 56 pounds and is getting ready to do a 2nd session. It has worked well for him so everyone is different. Good luck on whatever you decide. My vote would be a resounding no.

I looked at the HCG plan, but it sounds like people lost massively mostly due to the diet than the injections. It souded risky to me, injecting myself with something that I didn't know a lot about. I guess if you had your heart set on it, I would strongly advise at least talking to your surgeon first!

As for the diet, as sleevers most of us only eat 600-800 a day anyway, so if you tried it, I half suspect nothing would happen since you're already low calorie to begin with. I'm in a stall now myself, but I just keep saying it's a lesson in patience lol. Just be careful!
